His answer to the very first question was a bit surprising to me. Basically he was asked a relatively benign "how was last season through your eyes" question and he took a moment, gave a heavy sigh, and said "last year was a learning experience." Not exactly what I thought he'd say for a team that broke the drought and won a tournament game, even with the sour way it ended.

I think everyone has underestimated just the kind of toll playing the entire season in virtual isolation took on the guys. I know I definitely have. I think some of the perceived lack of chemistry or effort can be directly chalked up to that, along with the awkward weight of having broken the drought last season except not really and now they had to do it all again. I think COVID was tough for everyone but it's worth remembering that the players couldn't go home to their family at the end of the day like the coaches could.

I hope the team is able to be looser next year. I definitely can't wait for them to get the warm RAC welcome they sorely deserve.

He was the most upset player at the end of the Houston game and that still weighs heavy in his mind
