Looks like Wiltfong put CB in for Jared Ivey to go to Georgia Tech.

5.7 three star with solid offer list at a position of need for us. Wondering if he became less of a priority for us?

I read where Nate Clouse said he really liked Ivey even better than Jamari Butler. It s hard to say whether we really wanted him or if he was down our list. Either way I hope we land the other guys on our list. Ga tech commit doesn’t scream “first priority” to me but who knows.

He seemed to fit the type of player we’d want, but let’s hope all these leads we got on other prospects out there are really heating up and that we were the ones who moved on.

Looks like a good player. But if we get Kaden Johnson, that will be a pretty good haul at OLB.

Frost, Chinander, and Beckton all visited his house this week, so I'm pretty sure we wanted him. He had offers from Georgia Tech, Stanford, Vanderbilt, etc., so it sounds like academics are pretty important to him, and we can't compete with GT in that area. We better hope we can land Johnson or Butler.

Looks like flipping Jamari Butler this weekend is not impossible. Ivey and Butler look very similar, and my very quick glance made me think Butler has a little more quickness off the snap.

For all the we can’t recruit outside LB posts I’ve seen the past 2 years..I hope they are equally excited about Kaden Johnson and gunnerson.

So you think we just lost in recruiting? It’s is possible but we will never know..may get a better idea when this class closes. The visit doesn’t move me..Remember we must visit all possible signings to lline up plan a,b,c.

few programs get the majority of their plan A guys

the key is how much of a drop off their is between your plan A,B,C,D .. etc recruits
we have struggled in the past when we are in the top 5 of big time recruits that go down to the wire, choose a more established program, and then are left scrambling

very difficult situation and not sure of the answer ... do you hang in there until the end and take your chances on signing day or do you accept an earlier commitment that might be a plan B or C but still quality

Right, not sure what the right answer is but it’s like a game of musical chairs. Can’t speak for the past but frost has not done well with recruits that go to the wire?

Looks like Kendall Dennis is headed to Clemson. Not sure how realistic our chances were with him, but he looks like a good player.

The answer is to stop having losing seasons. But that is a catch 22. You need these guys precisely to avoid losing seasons. But they don’t want to come here because of our losing seasons (at least in part). So we have to get really solid plan B guys and coach them up and get them into a sound system. That is what Wisconsin and Iowa do year after year.

You do both to the extent you can. The reality is we will have to build slowly. Get enough decent recruits to win the West most years, then build from there back to elite status.

Kaden Johnson hasn't committed here yet. There are rumors that he is waiting for a committable offer from LSU. It's far from a done deal.

This staff has struggled to recruit outside linebackers, which is strange because they coached Shaquem Griffin. Their pitch should be pretty easy: "we developed a guy with one arm into an All-American/NFL Draft pick. You have twice as many arms."

It's like how Pelini's staff struggled to recruit defensive tackles after Suh. You coached the most dominating college defensive player maybe ever, it should have been an easy sell, but it seemed like none of the top DT recruits wanted anything to do with Nebraska.

DeWitt has been off the recruiting trail due to his illness AND his future might be a little uncertain in some kids' eyes. He'll probably be fine going forward but some kids don't want to have to deal with the C word with a coach. That hurts and no doubt it has been used against us in recruiting. It's a dirty business. The other obvious thing that has to hurt is how poor some of our LB play has been. IMO, that's partly due to new scheme, coaches and inferior talent but that hurts. I will say our LBers played much better the last 3 games this year as if they were finally figuring things out. Better safety play would help the linebackers look better too. IMO, the whole deal will look better when we're playing guys who have been in the system with the same coach for 2-3 years.

Sounds totally realistic. That's pretty much where we are at as a program. To get the very good kids, we have to hope that we can out recruit our peers and then also hope that one of the power teams don't show interest. Isaiah Simmons was ready to sign with us, a great athlete living only 200 miles from Lincoln. Clemson jumps in and gives him the time of day (and a scholarship offer), and all NU heard was "buh bye".

this guy below is the lone uncommitted LB and looks like LSU leads for him...I don’t think we have to worry about LSU with Kaden...

This is LSUs currently committed LBs and they are up to 23 total commits. I know they are in a few big time prospects still so I’m assuming Kaden Johnson won’t get that “committable offer” you speak off. LSU looks to be set and loaded at LB. And they only have a few visits coming over the next few weeks and they are a DT, S and a TE (two are already committed to LSU). So it doesnt appear they are even after another LB. So I think we are good with Kaden Johnson.

Better yet, Kaden Johnson hasn’t even visited LSU and I believe he’s used up all 5 of his visits (unless his ISU visit was unofficial). Again, I don’t think we have to worry about LSU. It’s been a three horse race for him for months now...Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Huskers and it appears the Huskers have finally taken the lead for him. Unless LSU loses an LB and they go to Kaden as a last resort. Time to get him signed Dec 18 and let him enroll early and get him ready to play. GBR

one things for sure...I’d take those LB recruits and make them ours in a heart beat. Man that would be nice to add those guys to our roster :(
And teams like Ohio State and LSU already have guys like that lined up on their roster to fill in for the guys who go to the draft. People trying to judge Frost as a coach based on how those teams look with top 10 recruiting classes for the past 5 years are off their rocker. I know recruiting is part of the job but those teams have built their brand for years and all we've done is sh## on ours for the 10 years prior to hiring Frost.
