He'll have to earn a starting spot in college first. That's why he has to move to TE- it's his best shot to play here as well as make an NFL roster someday. He and Haarberg will be matchup nightmares across the middle of the field if these WRs are as good as advertised.

You're not wrong, but with Nelson this has been the plan all along. Nelson was quoted last year while he was still in high school that the coaches were talking about playing him at WR at first and then moving him to TE. I think it's a smart way to develop a kid like him. Now as a TE, he's already had a lot of practice running routes out of the slot and blocking out in space.
Not talking about Nelson. I love their plan for him. Keep him at WR until they see if he naturally grows into the TE role. As opposed to just bulking him up.
You need to let that line of thinking go. He's too good to be riding the bench for another season at WR. Carter's already the same size as Brock Bowers is right now. Bowers seemed to do OK at Georgia and he has over 100 receptions as a rookie with the Raiders. Probably no surprise that Georgia wanted Nelson badly to play tight end.
Brock Bowers was 6' 3" 243 at the combine. So that is dead accurate. Nelson is listed at 6'5 230. Not big enough to handle big 10 DE's. I hate bulking up guys and then having them lose all their speed.
He wasn't an early enrollee so he'll get a full year of lifting. It will should then become clear if he can bulk up enough and maintain it to be a TE. At this point he's no bigger than Banks or Neyor.

I get it. My point is I don't consider him a WR. If he wants to excel in college and make it to the NFL, TE is his position. Bulking up and maintaining, or gaining speed is not difficult.
I hope he grows into the TE position, but the only reason people think he is a TE right now is because recruiting services called him that. Looks like a high metabolism kid and doesn't have a naturally bulky frame. I hope he can bulk up. If not, oh well.
Much better chance of gaining 10-15 lbs and maintaining than staying or losing weight and getting faster.
TE is his long term position. It's just a matter of when he's physically ready. By year two he should definitely be ready.

TE's are split off the line so often anymore that it's really a distinction without a difference in how he'll actually be used. In ideal circumstances, I'd like him to stay in the hybrid role another year before bulking up. I don't think he needs to bulk up all that much anyway. But I agree, I see him more as TE than WR long term.
Barney has 1 spot on lockdown. I would think Key has another spot. 1 spot for the rest to fight for.
I once put on 15 lbs on a 10 day frat recruiting trip. We stayed at frat brother’s farm places and every one of their mom’s cooked for us like we were starving orphans. He’ll be fine. They’ll set weight goals and prescribe the appropriate training table diet.
We could use a LOT more thugs. Beating a rodent to death with a tire iron or robbing a vape shop is gaye as hell.
Nelson has a great frame to put muscle on. It's not like he has to get fat to put on pounds. He already won the genetic lottery, he just needs to lift and eat.
He was bidding on a storage locker at an auction and hit that YYYUUUUPPP guy who bid him up, then dumped a locker on him.
