My area recently got access to 1GB internet and I'm considering it. What sort of upload/download speeds should I expect to see (if things are working properly). And do I need a special modem or wifi router? I'm assuming CSpire will offer me a modem and router (for a small price) but I want to make sure they don't try to upsell me unnecessarily.

We got cspire last week. The modem is actually in a box outside your house. Inside the line just plugs directly into your router.

We bought google nest routers. They have been very easy to use.

Download speed test using google home app show router getting well north of 900 up and down. Laptop which is wireless getting 175 down and 150 up (sometimes higher). Sure I could tweak some stuff to help with that. By comparison Xfinity/Comcast cable using a net gear router my laptop was getting 35 down.

We've had it through C Spire since 2014. My speeds have stayed at 915 download and 928 upload. Never wavered more than a few megabits/second in either direction. C Spire will have to put their own modem in there to receive the signal from the outside box, but you can put your own firewall and wireless access point in the house, if you so choose.

We have CSpire and ATT fiber on our street. Currently I have Att. Wired I get 950 up and down and on wifi through most of the house I’m getting 300-500.

This. After "overhead" you should get 940 up and down wired. Wifi speed will depend on your access point. I have an Eero Pro system and can get up to 600 up and down.

Everyone in the neighborhood was complaining about their yards getting messed up and I’m just sitting there smiling ear to ear because I’m about to get 1 gig internet.

If you want to run your entire house at high speed...can’t recommend eero enough. Plus I like their security suite.

not cheap, but it’s been great.
