Please don’t mock suicide. To not recognize that depression and other mental illness terrorize men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and professions is ignorant and dangerous.
I heard suicide rates have raised by 25%. That's an astonishing increase.
Certainly, depression and mental illness is a leading factor, but I'm a big believer that social media is also a huge factor in the recent rises of suicide, particularly with our youth.
It's so easy to sit behind a keyboard, and demean others. I mean, look at the stuff written out on this very board. I doubt many people would have the balls to say the things we say here to one another, if we were face to face with that person.

Very well said. Imo, social media has syphoned off the depth of relationships and allowed the ability of people to pretend they gain without achieving.
You wrote some really nice things in this post, however I have yet to see you tell your right-wing buddies to stop anything.........

Seriously though, don’t mock it. People need to recognize that this man, whose job was to literally fly around the world and experience food, fun, drink and pleasure took his own life. It should tell us that there is no out running the internal horrors we face. We should all try to be more grounded and focused on our own internal struggles. The man must have had some serious pain.
I think the cast on The View could probably get a discount on rope...although some of them might need more than one.
Suicide is a cowards way out ...dont even start with the " you have no idea" line of b.s my son did it ...with the help of drugs ....

My feelings as well.......wasn't a child of mine, but close family member..........I understand mental illness is a problem, but suicide is a coward's way out.......

A professor of mine in grad school hanged herself. She was brilliant - MIT PhD. She had 2 young kids and was seemingly happily married. It was a shock. Apparently she had suffered with depression issues.
