Cant be upset about some of the xfers miles pulled....petteway, jpj, cope, pitchford. Those were all really talented guys.
I agree that Miles was a pretty decent recruiter early. He pulled in some highly rated high school players with Morrow, Watson, Roby, etc and had some nice transfers in Petteway, Palmer, Copeland, Burke, White and Pitchford. His biggest issue was roster management and in game management.

If he could have kept players from transferring, last years team could have been really, really good.

You know? For a guy that hates recruiting Hoiberg sure is doing a damn good job of it.

What makes you think he is the one doing the recruiting? I think he is closing the deal but clearly Abdelmassih is the one getting them to the closing table.

Yep. And they need to pay Matt A the going rate for one of the top recruiters in the country. Yes...we are paying him more than he was making. But, if we have the season I think we will have....we need to wrap him up tight. Hoibergs success is going to be tied to Matts ability to sell nebraska to any top player in the country. If we want to be a top basketball program....dont ho,d back now

Jordy transferring was a BIG deal.

Consider that Fred hired Matt as an INTERN so you could argue that Matt would never be in this position without Fred taking that chance. I think that ensures Matt isn't going anywhere given the fact it doesn't appear he actually coaches basketball. I'm not sure I've ever seen a clearer case of "I just recruit" than Matt. None of that means he doesn't deserve a raise.

Matt Deserves all the credit and probably more $ than he's currently making. He and Bobby Lutz are the guys evaluating, finding the talent and building the relationships with kids. Fred's job is largely done for him because his reputation precedes him. He's not just Fred Hoiberg former NBA player and front office exec. He's Fred Hoiberg the coach who resurrected Iowa State and former NBA head coach. That's a huge deal to these kids. He's one of maybe 5 to 10 guys in college basketball that shutdown schools when he comes to visit recruits. Then all he has to do is talk hoops and build a working relationship with the kid. It's a lot easier task than he had when he first started at ISU.

How many coaches have the resume Fred has....
College standout
College coach success
NBA player
NBA team executive
NBA coach

It is a winning combination on this coaching staff. Having Bobby and Doc's years of experience as head coaches will be invaluable. From what Fred says...Armon is really good with the players. I think it was good to have one holdover for transition. And I like that the staff is not all caucasion....it does make a difference having a minority coach on staff.

Matt is being paid quite well. He is the 2nd highest paid Asst Coach in the B1G.

I think everyone that said he should be paid more already knew that. I'd like to see another guy that has recruited the quality and quantity in such a short period of time for a team that has never won an NCAA Tournament Game, of course no one has.
