And to me this one hurts. MIF Mason Land is in the transfer portal. I saw him a lot in fall ball and he’s good. Lemonis has stated he’s a future 3 hole hitter. He would have likely been the starting 2B.

Maybe he wants to be a SS? I don’t know why he’s leaving.

Yeah that makes no sense. He was definitely thought to be a starter.

Is it possible Foscue got back a draft grade, and he will not be in the Top 5 rounds? Same maybe for Westburg?? That would steer a MIF to look for PT elsewhere.

Exactly. With the possible but very unlikely exception of Ginn, this year’s baseball team is going to be next year’s baseball team, with the addition of some elite talent from recruiting that was supposed to not arrive until some of these guys had already more or less inherited a starting spot. A lot of good guys are going to leave. Parity the next few years in college baseball is going to be very high.

I will be very pleasantly surprised if either Foscue or Westburg is back next year.

I’d agree in a normal year, but we’ll see. I definitely didn’t realize Foscue / Westburg were on the cusp of being 1st rounders, but knew they were both in the top 150-200 prospects. The 5-round draft is a game changer....pretty much all the college seniors that previously had no leverage now have a little bit, and a lot more high school guys than normal will be wanting to go pro now to avoid the glut of talent on college rosters. Plus, you have basically no senior year wear and tear on high school pitchers to worry about. Its going to be interesting when you’re talking about only 150 or so guys getting drafted period....strategies are going to change.

No doubt Foscue and Westburg are drafted and signed. JT Ginn 99 percent sure he’s gone too. Signee Austin Hendrick is gone. Blaze Jordan is also, he’s signing no matter the round.

But we will sign grad transfers to plug holes.

A poster who knows the family better than anyone else says the plan for Ginn right now is to be back in school next year. He did say that if he is chosen in the 1st round then things might change. That tells me that, at this point, they haven’t talked to any teams about being taken in the 1st.

Blaze Jordan will be interesting to watch.

There seems to be conflicting info out there on Ginn and Blaze. I think there is a real chance we have one of them on the roster next year.

Ginn just needs one team to take a late first round chance on him, but that is far from a given. Rumor is that Blaze wants first round money, but it is more likely that he is drafted in 2nd or 3rd round. It will be more difficult for teams to make risky picks since the draft is only 5 rounds.

MLB is taking a huge revenue hit this year. Not sure any teams are going to be in a "taking a chance" approach to the draft this year.

Correct. And with only 5 picks, teams really can’t afford to miss on any of them.

Wasn’t Blaze Jordan said to be doing the whole Bryce Harper thing....planning to go JUCO if he doesn’t get picked high so he can get there ASAP?
