It's early yet but I agree it'll become more clear that it was a horrible trade for ATL. Hell they benched her in the 2nd half against Vegas and that's what sparked the Dream's big late comeback. They did that with her on the bench.
Down 19 with Angel, almost win without her. Tells you all you need to know.

My response was to you saying she is a "basketball" talent. That she is not. She is a rebounding talent. Just don't try to make her what she is not.
Perhaps you should follow your own directives. Don’t try to make her what she is not.

We both agree that Reese is a below average offensive bb talent.

You stated: “her offensive skills are high school junior varsity level and that is a stretch”.

Don’t try to make her what she is not.

Reese has averaged double digit scoring per game while competing at the highest levels of WBB competition, including professional basketball, for each of the past five seasons.

Characterize it any way you want but your “high school junior varsity level” skills does not accurately describe Reese.

She's shooting at <42% from the field for her career. She shot 39% her first year, and is currently shooting 33% in year three, with most of those shots happening within a few feet of the rim. Calling her HS JV level might be hyperbole, but so is calling her offensive skills "below average." Her offensive skills are worse than below average, they're absolutely awful.

She is good at what she has always been good at, I don’t see where she has improved in any of the areas she has not been good at. Atlanta got exactly what she has been throughout her career, The question is are they satisfied with that or would they like to see her game progress.

If they got what they wanted out of her, why did they bench her? Shouldn't they be happy or thrilled with her performance, or were they disappointed with her performance?

OK you may be correct - High School Junior Varsity Boys. All better for you?

The value of the trade ultimately will be determined by how long Reese stays in Atlanta. She's under contract through next season and then becomes a restricted free agent. Two years seems to be the shelf life for her. Two years at Maryland, two years at LSU, and then two years in Chicago. And every place she left under somewhat acrimonious circumstances.

If she doesn't live up to expectations in the next two seasons, she will be "Restricted" in name only. I doubt at that point the organization would match an offer.

She’s going to give them 12 points and 13 rebounds on a regular basis and she’s going to sell a lot of jerseys.

If that’s all they really need from her and she manages to keep the locker room drama to a minimum then they got what they paid for.

It’s probably a reasonable deal at the rookie salary scale. But if Reese expects a supermax contract in 2028 then she probably won’t be around much longer.

Which she wasn't able to do at LSU or Chicago.

She stinks and is a very poor man's Rodman or Green. That is all.

She's lucky that the back up guards at LSU shot the lights out from 3 in the natty game or she'd be a bench warmer in the W. Because otherwise, she'd be a footnote and afterthought for women's basketball.

AFM22 your dumbazz girlfriend is 0/3 on 3 pointers and it’s not even halftime yet
Reese needs to ditch the 3PT FGAs. The box score shows Reese finished with 25 points (0-4 3PT) on 11-22 shooting and 9 REBs vs. the Liberty, only 2 TOs — I’d call that a pretty good game.

If she could hit them at a 40% clip like Boston it'd be worth her shooting. They have the 3 point leader in Howard, and also Allisha Gray. Reese doesn't need to be shooting 3s.

Played pretty good in her loss last night, though.

She's lucky that Iowa took out South Carolina so she didn't have to get embarrassed by them a second time. That South Carolina team was a machine. They went 85-1 over a two and a half year period, with the only loss provided by Iowa. The Gamecocks had beaten LSU earlier that season in their only meeting by 24 points, while holding Reese to 16 points and 4 rebounds. LSU hasn't beaten South Carolina in something like 14 years now. Iowa had to play a nearly flawless game in order to beat SC and they did, with Clark delivering 41 points and 8 assists. They were physically and emotionally drained when they had to turn around and face LSU 48 hours later. LSU would have had little or no chance against SC.

All this talk about how Reese won a natty and Clark didn't is just tiresome silliness. The Tigers got a lucky draw in that tournament. The only time Reese even won a conference championship in college - regular season or tournament - was her freshman season at Maryland when she wasn't even a starter. And the people who love to brag about Reese's title curiously fail to remember that Iowa ended Angel's college career the following season in the Elite 8 when Clark dropped 41 points and 12 assists as Iowa beat an LSU team that featured 4 starters who currently play in the WNBA.

I didn’t want to start a whole new thread for this, so I’ll drop this nugget here. So DC Power FC, a team in one of the two top division women’s pro soccer leagues has slowly loaded up with Iowa talent. Both starting forwards the second half of the season were former Hawkeyes, and now they have added an outside back on loan from Chicago Stars. I needed to know the answer to a question on ownership so I looked it up. They are partly owned by ownership of DC United of MLS, and a consortium of a number of major pro athletes led by…drum roll…Angel Reese. So fun little trivia: an Angel Reese co-owned franchise employs three Iowa athlete grads.

I was aware of that and was hoping that maybe CC could partner with Krause on ownership for a Des Moines team and maybe also bring a women's team to the mix and the rivalry could extend to women's soccer

Des Moines is getting a team in the same USL Super League in the 2008-09 season. I think CC was in on an NWSL expansion bid (Cincy?) but it went to Denver.
