Chris Mack is a media "darling". How else do you explain no criticism of how Louisville handled the press against Clemson. Reason I say that is it was their next game after the collapse against Duke, and any coach worth 2 cents would've addressed that.

But he/Luke Murray are beloved figures and when they offer 50 kids (Cal's shade was evident if you pay attention) it's a joke. As Cal stated have those 50 call up and try to commit, see how things unfold.

Mack is a guy who will play the bully/tough guy when he's got an advantage. When he doesn't, he plays the nice guy role. In ACC, he's NEVER going to be the tough guy or Duke/UNC will run him out faster then they did Rick Barnes.

UL, like it or not, may be the most experienced top-30 team in D-1. Have to be top 3. Add a very good frosh class and I can see why he makes them a 1 seed. That said, I hope they lose every game.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Experience only matters if they are talented. I saw a team who was average and very poorly prepared/coached in a lot of key situations.

Yep - experienced mediocre players are just mediocre players one year older. And for all the hype about that freshman class, from what I gather only one of them is a difference maker, an impact player. Didn't they lose 7 of their last 8 or something, including a double digit loss to a 10 seed as a 7 seed. I can't get the image of Mack on the bench during the loss to BC letting loose with an expletive about the character of his kids. Maybe they'll be a lot better. Mediocre players one year older.....

Yeah, they’re experienced but their players are not anywhere near elite.

We shall see. I think they can be a top 20ish team, but certainly not a top 5 as I've seen in some preseason rankings.

Agree with your take, but these media guys who would drink Mack's bathwater seem to think they are best team in country. Why? What are they seeing that is so special?

I dont care who comes back, they lost to Minnesota last March. They aren't even half the Pitino they used to be.

I mean, you’d have to be in denial or just blinded by hate if you don’t think UL will be good this year. I think Mack is a decent coach and has them in a good spot.

With that said, a 1 seed suggests that they will be not good, but GREAT. I’d have to see it to believe it. They’re going to struggle handling the ball and don’t have any elite facilitators. I see them topping out as a 4-seed—maybe a 3, if everything went perfectly for them.

How many posters considered the 2016/2018 Villanova teams experienced and mediocre?

How many posters considered the 2019 Virginia team experienced yet mediocre?

Are we still silly enough to believe experience that doesn't matter come tournament time?

Let me guess the 2 big guys coming back for UK although combined wouldn't make a serviceable post player are gonna be all Americans this year. To speak without first informing oneself with factual data is asinine. Correct UL flamed out at the end of last season but it was a severe lack of depth. We had zero freshman class. Only had 9 scholarship players. In retrospect Mack did a decent job with the hand he was dealt. U L did have Nwora , 17 pts, 7.7 reb. A game Sutton 10 pts 7 reb. Enoch 10 pts 5 reb Williams 8. pts 6 reb so the cupboard is hardly bare. All these guys are juniors orseniors. In the real world that matters. Not bad returning #s considering we play in by far the best conference in basketball. I'm sure You All will cry about that . so anyway that's why. Oh and if you guys think Williamson is the only freshman that will contribute than whew

NO one gets better?
Except Richards? UF? So no one gets better and you don’t get called out for it? WCS? Where’s your argument facts?
Nwora is leading an international country team to a global tourney.
I’d second guess my opening sentence. Nazr got better from mediocre.

Yea, I don't get the UL love. I'd hate the thought of Perry or Kimble running my team, and as far as Enoch and Williams go, they were underwhelming last year to me.

I was referring to yearly comments by UK fans saying their returning players will be much improved but any other team if a player was mediocre the previous season they will mediocre again. Funny. Just like when they talk about wanting a recruit to commit to UK then said player chooses UL and suddenly he sucks. See how it works. On the UK football board any 3 star recruit that commits to UL is doody while a 3 star player commits to UK and he's underrated better than 3 stars and bound for stardom. This amuses me. This past NFL draft UK fans on the board were clowning UL for not having any picks. While 6 or 7 short years ago they led the nation in draft picks. More than bama.or anyone. I get it though kick em when they're down. I just have to remind you guys about a few things when people start that up has arrived and ul is the worst team and will be for years. Their new coach recruits div 2 or mac talent. Man our classes have been very similar for years .sans 1 here 1 there. But somehow UK is in a different league talent wise. You guys are wild man.

And similar classes? In what way? Certainly not in post season success. lol Where were these mighty UL classes ranked nationally?

A 3rd year 3-star is much different than a 2nd year 5-star player..

A returning Terrence Jones is, and always be be, more important than Enoch coming back for his senior year...

Honestly I don't understand.why you guys are having so much trouble understanding the love for the Ville this year in bball. Ill attempt to explain but if anyone just refuses to understand I can't help you. Here goes. Keep in mind these are facts not my opinion. UL returns 75.8 percent of its rebounding and 76 percent of its scoring. UL will have no less than 6 players with a 35% or better 3 point average. UL will be one of the most experienced teams in the country try with 4 seniors and 3 juniors. UL as a team has a 77.5% free throw percentage. Also senior Ryan McMahon shoots 95% from the line tops in the nation. Out 2 returning centers average a combined 17.1 ppt and 11.3 reb while playing less than 20 min per game each. UL returns 4 post players and all are 70+% ft shooters. 75%, 81%, 70%, 76%. Lamar Kimble has been a utility player for the bulk of his time at st.Joe's. Filler whatever position of need presented itself..in 3 collegiate seasons Kimble was named captain as he is at UL this year. Kimble has a career scoring average of 11.4 pts and 3.2 assists. While never being primary point. Himself a 35% 3 point shooter and 75% ft. You all know of Samuel Williamson and of Aiden Igiehon which UK offered. Also 3 other top 100 players and a 4th that will red shirt. This is enough for anybody to put them in the top 5. Like I said believe it or not the Ville is a legit threat this season. Get used to it.

I'll stop you right there. How can a team that LOST that much in production (Florida) also be seen as a 1-seed, with a team that RETURNED that much production? Which is it with these media members? No one here thinks UofL will be bad.

You return all this talent? Well this talent lost 13 games last season. It's absurd to think these guys will all the sudden be top players on route to a 1-seed.

They are a 4, maybe 3-seed until I see otherwise. And that otherwise would have to be guys like Nwora and ENoch really stepping up, and playing these games with a much bigger target on it's back.

You're going to have to be more specific. Are the same people saying that returning UK players will be much improved the same people saying that returning UofL players won't be? If so, you have a point. Otherwise, you're trying to hold folks responsible for things they didn't say. "UK fans" isn't an entity. It's a bunch of different people with a bunch of different opinions.

I may be in the minority, but I like it better when UofL is good.

We still usually beat them, so we can add that to our resume.

They’re rarely a threat to us on the recruiting trail, or the national championship picture.

Let their fans get their unrealistic hopes up. It makes it so much sweeter when we thrash them.

Louisville has a nice team this year, but looking at their players, the only one that would likely see the floor if they played for Kentucky is Nwora, and it's unlikely he would be a starter. The rest would get mop up duty, at best.
