Poor blocking and tackling the line looks they did in the first half against McDowell but against a better team.

Mitchell is not very good right now. Getting dominated.
I don't know if they're that good or we're just not this year or a little both I thought in the Watauga game the line had finally started to get but tonight looks like the first half of the McDowell game. I don't know if it something that can be straightened out by playoffs or not. But if it's Andrews is just this good SMC better look out.

Andrews is a great football team. They wore Mitchell’s @$$ out tonight. Mitchell is in trouble in the playoffs if the qb doesn’t get healthy.
Well while I agree he'll need to get healthy you could tell when he did try to run the speed just wasn't there from the looks of the score probably shouldn't have played him. But he doesn't play D and or on the line where Mitchell got beat the most I can see if him better the offense scoring more but not sure how they fix the defense.

I don't know why they wouldn't be counted as being in WNC. WNC represents the Appalachian mountains of NC and seeing that Watauga's football stadium at around 3,300 ft is probably the highest in elevation high school football stadium in NC I would definitely call them part of WNC.
Avery’s is higher….3700-3800 ft 👍 But yes, Watauga is definitely WNC.

Well the conference is pretty awful, Mitchell could probably rest the QB until the first round of the playoffs and win by 30 every game.
Starting wonder about the Draughn game after tonight that might be closer that you think. Even though a lost I thought they hung tuff with Watauga and might have been geling better because first half in the McDowell game the line and D didn't play well but it appears Watauga might be as good as I thought they got beat 48-28 by Burns tonight.

Draughn might keep it close for a while but I think Mitchell will have something to prove now and play better as the season goes on. Watauga was beating Burns 28-21 then fell apart. They are still a good team. Mitchell will be fine they just need to get healthy.

This is how I see the WHC playing out-

1. Mitchell
2. Draughn
3a. Mtn Heritage
3b. Avery
5. Owen
6. Madison
7. Rosman

I think they're in trouble if he is 110 percent this ain't last Year's bunch those 5 starters we lost last year were irreplaceable
Well I'm not giving up on them I'm hoping they figure so stuff out especially on D I'm not quite as concerned about the offense if they get healthy improving.
I guess it's like the guys on wtoe said we are little spoiled.

Andrews (sleeper team in SMC)
Week one statement. Sorry guys, yall aint sleepers no more..lol
Mitchell has home field advantage but sounds like they have several key players on the bench. To me, this cancels the home field advantage. Mitchell has had the tougher schedule so far and may have impact on the game but I am guessing though the tougher schedule has contributed to their injury list as well. So again, a positive is cancelled out for Mitchell. Not hearing much about Andrews' injury report so I am assuming they are in good shape as far as injuries and that they will field their best 11 Friday against 1A state runner up Mitchell. All things considered, these two teams are both forces to be reckoned with in 1a football this year and you can never count either out but just looking at the facts (all we have right now), signs point to Andrews by 4.
Missed the score prediction by 13 but the outcome was the same.
Gonna take a jab at sizing this game up, but to me it's always a risk to do so in high school football and especially when two good teams meet like this game.
Hard fought slugfest I'm sure. Congrats Wildcats! When Mitchell gets healthy, they will be back in the saddle and hard to stop. If these two meet again this year, if the Lord let's me live, I will be there.

Some posters that have said this team is the one who will win it all are going off their 8th grade season I truly hope they win it all, but I honestly dont see it they are missing 5 pieces of the puzzle that 8th grade year they speak of they only played 5 different teams the others wouldnt squedule em because of the whipping they got from the class ahead of them if you dont believe me ask Mike Slagle I would love to have that trophy sitting at MHS I think our best shot at it was when we were there 2021
