13 rebounds last night in a game vs the 6'10 future #1 overall draft pick Jabari Smith and 7'1 Walker Kessler on the court most the game and with Tolu & Brooks competing for boards too. That's actually ridiculous. He also had 2 steals making it 10 steals in the last 5 games for him. In a season that's flame is dwindling to nothing Garcia's arrival has been pretty awesome to watch.

If he doesn't portal out he could be the leader next year. I really like that he plays great defense too

If he wants to be a leader, he needs to be more of an offensive threat.

But his improvement this season has been unreal.

He's active and aggressive, which I like. He's like a gnat that just won't go away--he may not bite much(score) but he's going to make your life miserable having to deal with him.

You are dead on accurate. I was just more or less saying I could see him developing into that player.

He has a skill to get offensive rebounds that you just don't see from guards/wings

I’ve never seen a worse offensive team.

Plays harder than anyone on the floor. Has a great ball IQ. Wish he had took some 3’s last night. Couldn’t have been any worse.

You can be a leader without being an offensive threat. I hate it took Howland 30 games to give him more minutes when the analytics told the story all year long.

Disagree - to be THE leader - you need to be the go to when it's crunch time offensively.

Brandon Vincent was a pretty big leader on his teams and he didn't average a lot of points.

You don't always have to be the best player to be the leader, but it does help being good.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this.

ETA: you might be the go to in crunch time without being the scorer or scoring a lot.

Your comment reminds me of this guy:

The 17'n Worm. An absolute beast on the defensive end.

He didn't score much, but I would definitely classify him as a "leader" on his team due to his defensive prowess and his level of effort. (How could any teammate of Rodman watch him play and not be inspired to play with maximum effort?)

Rodman is the type of basketball player that you would HATE to play AGAINST, but you would LOVE to have on your team.

If Garcia plays at a maximum effort and produces good results (e.g., defensive stops, steals, rebounds, hustle plays, frustrating the other team, etc.), then I would start him and I'd take him out only when he needs a breather or fouls out. I'd also point at Garcia and tell the rest of the team, "You see that guy right there? That's how you need to play if you want to win."

I feel like the whole year I've been thinking Garcia is the "X Factor" -- I'm pleased to see others agree. I really hope he stays with MSU -- he is fun to watch and adds value to our team.

I saw three worse offensive teams from 2012-2015
Those teams at least a player or two that could shoot like Sword and Fred Thomas… But they were having to play a walkons and undersized JC players because Ray was handed a crap roster by Stans. This Roster is full of “Talent” that can’t shoot a basketball.

Timmy Bowers was unequivocally the leader of both state teams that Vincent was a part of.

I doubt we ever have two more players like those guys simply because it is a different game now and those types of players are rare. Guys who know their roles in a team and a tenacity I haven't seen in any player we've had since those days.

Fred Thomas was the definition of a streaky shooter. All I’m saying is that in 2014-15 we lost a game to SC upstate 53-51 and Rays final win here was 52-43 victory over Missouri. This team is very frustrating on offense but we have seen way worse. Even compared to 2020-21 we are night and day better
