The storyline of most of the media was that the GOP had moved further right over the past decade or two (I have never thought this was accurate when I compare the GOP positions of today vs. those 20-30 years ago).

The media now seems to be opening its eyes a bit more and is writing more stories on how far left the Dems have moved and are moving. For most in the media, this is a welcome change. They cheered the end of the Clinton era of moderation while they celebrated the ushering in of the Obama era of "fundamental transformation."

Over the past few days, it seems that many Dems feel the resolution to their current difficulties is to move further left. They are giving prominent positions to Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer. And the odds on favorite to succeed Brazile as the head of the DNC is ultra lib, Keith Ellison.

Personally, I hope the Dems move further left as it will provide even more contrast between the parties as Americans decide how to vote. Maybe the Dems are right and America wants to move far to the left. I am in a red state so my views might be tainted a great deal.

My personal opinion is that the country has moved leftward on some social issues like gay marriage but is center right on economics, foreign policy, crime, immigration and the like.

The further left the dems go, the further right the center looks. I believe it's just a way for the media to mobilize the dems voters. "Look at how far right the rebpubs are", when we haven't changed that much. It's just a result of how far left the democratic party has moved. At least, those that are making policy.
