Calling LeBron an ******* when Jordan is one the biggest pricks in basketball history is more telling of age than anything else. Fans and their eras of influence are always entwined. I would like to see LeBron win another title this year just to fire up all of the Jordan fans. I can see sides to every argument for Jordan, Bron, Kobe, Wilt, or Kareem as the GOAT.

...even if MJ never existed Bronny would still be a douche nozzle....

I wonder if I will end up like some of these geezers when it comes to sports debates in the future. I wasn't old enough to watch Jordan. I've followed Shaq first and then LeBron throughout his entire career. I knew I was witnessing greatness in both instances and that was good enough for me.

I hope so. So some young empty headed low IQ moron can take a crap all over you and the things you enjoy. IDK what to think, you either want to die young or enjoy a nice long life. You should be so lucky/blessed.

As a 55 y/o I'd say I'm on the 11th hole...but that also means I actually saw MJ and everyone after...and my eyes tell me MJ was the best.

The NBA teams of today (and Jordan's Bulls) would destroy Russell's teams. Just saying...
Some of that depends on which officiating they used. Todays players would be called for fouls on every defensive set and traveling on the other end.

For me it’s Jordan. LeBron is probably legitimately top 5 especially if you include former NBA player opinions and not just us pissed off rabble who don’t like his attitude.

Jordan is a big dick too, but Jordan was also presented to us through a mostly corporate curated lens. There was no social media then. LeBron you are getting raw and uncovered love it or hate it.

LeBron talent wise is a top five player. His on court antics just don’t weigh favorably for me. The pampered victim mindset doesn’t help either.

I’ll take more of the older generation of players because of the style of play. Athleticism is more apparent today with added training improvements. That is the difference in evaluating. Maybe better athletes today but not sure the game is played at a better level. Reflects on the best players of the era.

I'm not sure .... athletes have to be judged on dominance in their generation

in sports with truly objective measures ... swimming and track/field for instance the marks of past greats the 60s-70s and most in the 80s don't stand up

all of Phelps individual records have been broke except one and 2008 wasn't that long ago

human performance has advanced .... a high school athlete breaking 4 min in the mile is no longer that rare

i say human because of secretariat
Because of super shoes, I would not consider distance running as truly objective. There are as many runners that have broke 4 minutes in the last couple of years in these shoes than there have been in all of history. In D1 track you are seeing 4x 4 minute miles than in the years leading up to them.

You give Jim Ryan or Allen Webb that same technology and their times would be so far out of reach.

A similar thing happened in swimming in 2008 when records were dropping everywhere wearing a speedo suit.

much easier to dislike the pistons with bill laimbeer, the original basketball thug.

If there were more players like Laimbeer now, maybe Draymond Green wouldn't get to bully the entire league.
