Well, if your son said “Dad I wanna coach at Kansas someday” you’re better off telling him to try for something more attainable. Like walking on the moon or winning a Nobel Prize. Things like that

Why would you discourage your kid from chasing a dream? Wouldn't it be better to tell him in order to have a shot at coaching at Kansas that he would need to cultivate contacts with runners, agents, and shoe company rep's so as to be able to cheat and pay recruits. You know, like your current coach does.

Give me the $199 special please.........in UK Blue..........

All them new car kickers keeping them busy. Used to be 89.99 or something like that. It was ridiculous. They did a real good job if the prep work was good.

If my son said that to me I would put him up for adoption and divorce my wife for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

You mean the 2nd director. The book portrayed the evil witch as someone who tried to help Dorothy out and wasn't evil at all.

Kinda like how Kansas is a victim of the FBI, but those meanies are just trying to teach them a lesson.

Just imagine, had Memphis not had the most epic collapse of all time, Kansas would have the same amount of titles as Cincinnati and San Francisco [laughing]

Kansas is not a blue blood, we give them that based on some irrelevant bs. They just don’t have the hardware to be at the big boys table.

Not as amazing as the program only having won 3 actual national titles despite being the birthplace of basketball.

Nothing will beat that amazing stat. Impressive amount of postseason choking in the program's history.

Check out this post from a Kansas fan on 24/7

I can't understand the paradox that is Kansas Basketball

Like almost all of you, I'm still trying to make sense out of what happened last night. I can't call it a "stunning" loss, as Villanova is undeniably good. But everything felt so right this year. Once again, I thought it was "our year". Once again, I was sorely mistaken.

Which made me wonder, why does KU struggle so much in the NCAA Tournament. I can it the Paradox of KU Basketball, because it is a phenomenon that has haunted KU all the way back to Phog Allen. Dominant regular seasons, disappointing post-seasons. "Disappointment" is a relative term. 45 NCAA appearances, including an active record 27-straight, 14 Final Fours, 3 NCAA titles and 100 NCAA wins are records most schools would die for. But I would argue that we historically should have done better - much better - and I can't figure out why. What's even more troubling is that our tourney record could easily be much worse.

In 1988, as a 6-seed, it took the best coach with the best player to make a miracle run to win the title. "Danny and the Miracles", they called it. Then in 2008, we somehow made it to the Final Four when the current best player in the NBA inexplicably couldn't get a shot off to allow KU to advance to the Final Four. As we all know by heart, weonly won the title after "Mario's Miracle". Why did our only two titles in the past 64 years require not one, but two miracles? This is not normal. Duke and UConn haven't needed miracles to win in recent years.

What is particularly troubling or frustrating is that KU has consistently put itself in a position to win it all year-after-year for over three decades. We have made the NCAA Tournament 32 out of the past 33 years. I have not pulled the exact figures, but I would almost guarantee that we've been a Top 4-seed a vast majority of those times and a Top 2-seed well over a dozen times. It's not like we've been Georgetown, who has been good a handful of years, average a few more and flat-out not even in the tourney for several more. We have constantly put ourselves where we are in a position to a) make the Final Four and b) win it all better than any other school - Kentucky, Duke, UNC, UConn, you name it - but we somehow can't win it all. It's like we are flipping a coin and somehow comeup "Heads" 95 out of 100 times. Anyone can get upset. It happens. But this much, this often, over so much time is truly inexplicable.

The popular explanation is the conference doesn't prepare KU for the tourney. I simply don't buy that. First, there has been a high degree of competition in the conference for decades. Maybe not to ACC or Big 10 standards, but easily as good as the Pac-12 and definitely better than the SEC. Speaking of the SEC, Kentucky has feasted for decades on a horribleconference, yet they somehow convert those successes into national titles.

Some want to point to Bill and his documented troubles in the Elite Eight. There is no question that there is some truth to that. But Roy equally has some fault. How do you explain those legendary losses to Arizona, Syracuse (twice) and UTEP, to name a few. Even the legendary Larry Brown had the best team in the country in 1986 - including two wins against the eventual national champion Louisville - but couldn't seal the deal. Phog had two close championship game losses to Indiana. And how could anyone, even Dick Harp, lose a title with the most dominant player in the history of the sport on your side (and playing in KC, no less).

I just can't explain it. It defies all odds.
    ——————————

It doesn’t defy anything. Kansas sucks.

We are all chasing UCLA. None of us will see them surpassed as top program. At least in our lifetimes

The original book (Baum) placed the story in Nebraska. The director changed it to Kansas. So in that sense, Kansas was chosen for Hollywood not downgraded.

Always glad to help educate.

How many cocks did you have to put down to look that up and share with us?

This is truly pathetic.

More titles.
More wins.
More head to head wins.
Won more recently.
Went further in the tournament.
Higher in the pre-season polls.

I would not be here if I were a Kansas fan.. this isn't the time to start talking down to Kentucky.. I mean, living vicariously through UCLA? Really??

And this guy is 40+. Let that sink in.

And in every possible way, you are chasing Kentucky.

If titles were the only criteria, Kentucky would be chasing UCLA. But since Kentucky is ahead of them in virtually every other category, Kentucky is clearly the No. 1 program of all time.

Kansas better hope titles (non-Helms) aren't all that matters, because then you are chasing UConn and lots of other people, and tied with Villanova. Not much to show for a program that claims to be on that third tier just behind 1. Kentucky, then 2. UNC-CHeats, and Duke.

Every time.

Every time.

When Kentucky leads every other category, and the only one they don’t you have to pound to death over and over again to try and prove your argument just validates us as #1.

If you have to try so hard to invalidate it it means you’ve already lost. That’s why a 43 year old man is on an opposing teams message board, trying his hardest to talk down to/beat his chest about how we aren’t the top program of all time. Wow.

We’re used to it. Being the best program of all time means other fans just want to tear you down—seemingly for no reason. What a hilarious and sad waste of time you and many others choose to engage in.

Another Amazing Stat:

1. Kansas has three REAL championships.
2. There are at least four documented cases of a person being attacked by a shark, hit by lightning and bitten by a Rattlesnake or Grizzly Bear -- the same person.

So it is more likely that Knee Burns is attacked by a shark, hit by lightning and bitten by a Rattlesnake or Grizzly Bear than it is that Kansas ever wins another title.

And back in January, PJ dropped 20 & 12 on Kansas to help his team win by 8.....

Something that Neil Armstrong has never done.

****, a dozen guys or more so that to us every year. It isn’t hard. But if Neil thought walking on the moon was rare, he prob didn’t know it’s less rare than coaching Kansas

At least we are aiming for number one.

We’re already #1. UCLA cheated for every title. They won 10/11 titles in two decades with one coach, we’ve won all ours with 5 different coaches over 5 decades. They are 7th in most wins, we are 1st. They’re the 5th winningest program, we are 1st.
