Who does Jose game remind you of?

I think the big is the right league for him.

Him and Baker could be a great 1-2 punch. I really like his game. He moves in transition very well.

Shu never seemed to put full priority in this kid, and why would you go to Georgia when you are from the tri state?I feel good, but who knows.

GT has a pretty good history with PG's from the NY. Hopefully RU can push this across the finish line. Pikiell is certainly opening doors we haven't had before.

Read the GTech boards to see their take.

They are pretty arrogant and dismissive of Rutgers & NJ in general.

I'm not raining on anyone's parade------he's a good player.

Like most frosh I just don't think he's going to walk in and instantly make a difference.

He's a kid who will come in and give you minutes and not hurt you.

There's nothing wrong with that.

Thinking that getting this kid, a quality PG who dishes may help in the important 2018 recruiting class... hope 247 sports is right in their prediction

Kid looks like he has top notch court awareness and can facilitate. Would be a nice get. From what it seems regardless of the school he stays in NJ

He has talent, but his court smarts and the fact that he wont get outworked are what sets him apart.

Spot on. This is the top reasoning for why he is needed at RU. He will take things personally, and not fall off over 4 years. Sure, he is a smaller point guard, probably 5 9 at best, but still, he is going to work.

A lot of his games he was rebounding. I want to see him let the 3 down do the rebounding, and him stay little behind half court. Outlet pass, GO!

or just

Go!

Could be a lightning rod quick and gutsy player like a Tyus Jones at Duke, or Tyler Ulis Kentucky...neither were very big but both controlled the game in college

Regardless of Alvarado's exact height, (and you can usually take what's reported regarding that kind of thing with a grain of salt), the kid's a warrior and relentless and absolutely refuses to be outworked or outplayed. He's a statement recruit that would show that the B'ball times at RU are, indeed, a'changin'.

Keeping my fingers crossed, (and anything else it's possible to keep crossed without causing bodily injury), that by this time tomorrow night he'll be a Scarlet Knights commit!

Uh oh...

I'm glad I didn't Lance Thomas this one...doubts creeping back in...hope like hell I'm wrong!

Pikiell is working his tail off on this one. If we lose out, it's not for lack of trying

Is it too late to hire his Uncle or HS basketball coach?

Got a little concerned when I read his twitter page. Someone posted that it looks like a battle of NJ for Jose. The next entry by him was not to take anything for granted.

Hoping still. He and Baker would make a nice backcourt for 4 years here.

Found a new video on Jose:

Kid reminds me of Otis Livingston out of Linden, NJ who Eddie Jordan passed up on last year.

Both undersized guards (5'11, 160) who make up for it with high basketball IQ and great play making ability.

Still boggles my mind that RU didn't even offer Livingston but would be nice to get Alvarado especially with the likelihood of Sanders leaving after this year or the next.
