texas, ark, lsu at minimum will have more talent than us most years. toss in uf, ut, bama....it might be a challenge for us to crack the top 5 or 6 in the league.

I understand most here are to holy for this but I've always said Wade would absolutely kill it at Kentucky. He would kill it. He can give big asss offers legally now.

1000% agree. I don't mind the Will Wades of the world. I loved Rick, Cal and Clyde. All very different, obviously. One common thread. All three mavericks. I view Wade through that same lens.

Player and agent blackballed Pope in the early portion of his 1st year because of popes weird antics when discussing and trying to close the deal with NIL.They put out negative discussion to other top players and agents that's why the 5 stars won't commit.It was mentioned by someone on Rafters but briefly discussed.I remember reading about it and was surprised.Pope and ky only being used to drive up the price.

As much as I want Pope gone for other reasons I believe there is some truth that many agents are steering away from Pope. Not UK the brand. Just Pope.

I don’t know why or if even true. But something is seriously wrong when UK can’t even over pay for recruits.

Last year JMI was the scapegoat.

Multiple rumblings that the JMI issues have been corrected (but still not seeing results outside of some high dollar portal signings). Believe it was Field of 68, or something similar, but can't recall which for sure, that said UK (under JMI) is heavily funded by companies that provide products and services as value instead of just all cash. If Paul Miller Ford gives you a $250 thousand dollar vehicle for NIL (for example) it goes towards your NIL number but it's hard for agents to get their 5% out of stuff. Likewise for off campus apartments, memberships, jewelry, etc. They insinuated that UK's deals are large and competitive, but they are cash light, and that agents hate it because they make less off the player if that player comes to UK than another school offering straight cash (sometimes even at a lower total offer).

No clue on the full extent of that, but it does make sense if a large portion of your "collective" gives products and services instead of pure money.

Duke is going to be a 1 seed, get an extremely easy path to yet another final four. And they will be able to spam copy/paste this every year. What's our path/trajectory look like? R32/Sweet 16's, middle of the SEC?

I’m more than fine that drama is going to lsu. Wade loves that stuff and Alston will fit right in. Wade has never had a problem sleezing around to get recruits. He will acquire talent at all costs. But he’s not a good coach so it won’t matter.

Alston is the son of former NBA standout Rafer “Skip to My Lou” Alston, who, ironically, made headlines earlier in the week for critical comments directed toward Will Wade—now his son’s college head coach at LSU.


“I’m disgusted by how this whole process has played out,” Alston told Z Smart Hoops. “Will Wade has operated in a disgusting manner. He is a sleazeball of an individual. I know there was a back alley deal involving PUMA, in which money was accepted without my authorization.”
