If you’ve ever played the game competitively, you know what I’m talking about...

It’s a sign of lack of confidence, missing “bunnies” and “short arming” shots in the paint or layups. It’s been happening ALOT these past few games, and a bunch tonight.

This is a sign of a tight team...and they are missing BADLY (air balls, “flat” shots) which is another confidence issue.

So, it’s no wonder our oldest and most experienced player shot so well tonight.

I feel the youth and inexperience is attributing to this.

Geo, however??? He’s just flat out regressed.... and it’s a shame to watch.

As I said in an earlier post. Gonna be tough to get off that bubble, sadly.

great observation, its a perfect description.

Pressure is mounting as NCAA tourney talk swirls, its a factor.

Northwestern comes at the perfect time for RU and even there RU needs to be sharper at the beginning

Northwestern is not, and should not be, a given for this team. They are in a funk and need to figure out a way to snap out of it.

yes.. pulling shots.. being too careful... that was all over this game.. even on that wild loose ball I saw Yeboah at mid-court seeming to fear collision and pulling his arms rather than catch the ball... ball popped up instead.

Make them do push-ups every time they do this.. even if you pull em from the game to go to the end of the bench to do it. Anything to snap them out of it.

Not sure what can cure this other than experience, which helps confidence

Harpers put back air ball was a clear sign. You see that in bad pick up games

This is part of what I’m observing

Maturity and repetition keeps focus to compete the move...full follow through, eyes locked in the hoop, etc.

Rutgers has shown a pattern in recent years that the scoring average has receded as opponents have done a far better job in scouting making it harder for players to get open shots. In Rutgers case they now are having a difficult time even scoring 65 points a game which makes it very difficult to win on the road. How is the team going to win remaining games when Baker and Harper, the presumed go to scorers , are having such difficulty in scoring? The scoreboard tells the story.

We hardly pushed the ball at all against MD. It was more rebound, then protect the ball. If we can’t hit from outside then pushing the ball seems the approach to take as often as possible.

2 players on our team that can create their own shot and will create their own shot.

1 was on the bench and the other doesn't have the Uber ap.
Like trying to win with one thumb tied behind their back (and the other thumb up their ***).

the losses on the road hurt because 1) we need to win 1-2 to get the resume shored up 2) we put our selves in position to have a chance to win in every single one of them! So the fact that we fell short everytime is now becoming a concern.

Also a greater concern is what is going on with Ron & Geo. I'll post a new thread on this, but the stats over hte last 4-5 games for our two best players is really really not good.

This team sucks, how do you lose to the 10th best team in the country. Its not like they are a bunch of freshmen out there. Half way through your sophomore year you should know how to knock off a top ten team on the road. And stop with the excuse of a key reserve not playing, we should be able to win anyway. PS Pikiell Sucks!

The whole “top 2 scorers disappearing act” is nothing new. Remember all the MIA games of Mack and Jack?

It’s a confidence thing plus we have stopped puching the transition game. No more dunks!

Yes they missed many open looks inside 3 point land that they would usually make. You can't beat experience.

Always thought alligator arms was reference to wide receivers not wanting to get hit catching a pass and not reaching out. I do get and agree with your point though.
