due to the coaching change at UNC.
For the second time in as many days, North Carolina has lost a commitment as a result of its coaching change. Tuesday was Allen Smith's turn.
"Due to the recent coaching staff change, I have decided to de-commit from the University of North Carolina ad reopen my recruitment," Smith wrote on his personal Twitter account. "This is one [of] the toughest decisions I've had to make. I want to thank the UNC family and former coaching staff for welcoming and building a relationship with me. Also, I want to wish good luck to all my boys going there. I ask that you please respect my decision as I follow God's plan for the next chapter of my life. Thank you."
Smith, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, was UNC's second-longest tenured verbal commitment. He pledged to the Heels when he visited Chapel Hill in early April. He never returned to campus afterward.
