due to the coaching change at UNC.
For the second time in as many days, North Carolina has lost a commitment as a result of its coaching change. Tuesday was Allen Smith's turn.
"Due to the recent coaching staff change, I have decided to de-commit from the University of North Carolina ad reopen my recruitment," Smith wrote on his personal Twitter account. "This is one [of] the toughest decisions I've had to make. I want to thank the UNC family and former coaching staff for welcoming and building a relationship with me. Also, I want to wish good luck to all my boys going there. I ask that you please respect my decision as I follow God's plan for the next chapter of my life. Thank you."
Smith, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, was UNC's second-longest tenured verbal commitment. He pledged to the Heels when he visited Chapel Hill in early April. He never returned to campus afterward.

Thompkins has blown out both his ACL's. Frost and co. immediately reached out and told Thompkins we would still honor his scholarship. Needless to say, his HS coach (who is very involved in his players' recruiting) is a huge fan of our staff.
