All-time men's college basketball wins race (through Saturday's games): 1. Kentucky 2,319, 2. Kansas 2,309, 3. North Carolina 2,280, 4. Duke 2,204. Jayhawks have already gained six games on UK this season

Won't phase Cal one bit. He cares nothing about Kentucky Basketball traditions. It'll be a response similar to when the three point streak ended; "We're only concerned about winning games". I expect something to the effect of "we're only concerned about what happens now and have no control over how other schools perform". In any case, it'll be a lame response.

About to be 7....
Unforgivable if he gives up the lead in his tenure.

To make matters worse, the Jailbirds are racking up wins vs ranked opponents while we get our asses handed to us by relative cupcakes.

At least we can still maybe hang our hats on draft night and goings on in the NBA. Wonder how much longer that will last though.

When the NCAA gets done with the Jaycrooks they will be behind again.,.......
How do you know this? Are you privy to inside info from the NCAA?
It's pretty sad that we have fallen so far as to be hoping the NCAA sanctions on Kansas allow us to keep the all-time wins lead. Kentucky Basketball needs to be kicking *** on the damn court! Not losing to fawking Richmond and Ga Tech!

Just like when the three point streak ended. Cal just shrugged it out as well as the players.

Are we still the needle?
Kind of; just looks like we’re using a different type now.

The list Matters.

Cal is butchering head to heads, SEC dominance, and our traditions. I'm personally sick of it.

Hell, didn't Tubby win 5 SEC titles? 50% clip in some of the worst years for UK during that time. The excuses for Calipari are ridiculous.
Please don’t mention Tubby when comparing Cal. Rick, fine. But not Tubby.

Bill Self is a better floor coach than Cal, but who isn't?

I'd turn in my fan card the second Self was hired. We would get crushed with his inability to recruit non thugs and cheating. He sucks at it.

Cheating is fine if you're good at it. Calipari became good at it, so I was fine. Self, Pearl, ect are terrible at cheating. I don't even think Pearl cares if he gets caught.

Why? Makes no sense. Cal isn't close to the level of a Pitino, not a good comparison.

Tubby and Cal meanwhile are shaping up very similar these days. Although, Tubby never went to an NIT and Cal is headed to 2 in 9 years, so maybe you're right.
Tubby should have never been coach at UK. Period. Cal was deservedly so, regardless of ones feelings for him now. 4 final fours in a 5 year span vs a coach that only won with Ricks team. It’s pretty simple and embarrassing to argue edgewise.

Tubby coached his *** off in that title run tho. That strat against duke to not call TOs and gass them was genius.

Kansa will never get punished. We should hire Self if Cal leaves. He is a much better coach.

Rughead is standing by for some vacated wins, post season ban, and probably looking for another job. Only reason he got to where he is wins wise is the fact that the Jailbirds get the most favorable whistle in all of sports.

Are you arguing that Cal is better because he utilized Jorts, Liggins, and Miller in his first 3 years and had success with another man's players? Sounds a lot like Tubby?

I'm not arguing the quality of hire Calipari was at the time, and sure, Calipari was better than Tubby, but not anymore. Tubby never had a season like this, and he never went to the NIT. If Cal left today I'd say he's around a Joe B Hall legacy, which is better than Tubby - I guess?

Tubby did not go to the NIT. Who is the last coach to miss multiple tournaments in 9 years at UK.

Some of you seem to not process the shape UK is in under Cal. It's not going to get better either, so we might want to starts seeing this for what it is, not how we felt about him in 2010.

Do you think we would’ve reached the 2011 final four without Darius Miller, DeAndre Liggins and Josh Harrelson? Do you think we win the 2012 national title without Miller? How much did Miller, Liggins and Patrick Patterson add to the 2010 team? Cal wasn’t doing it all with his own recruits either.

And, fwiw, the teams in that stretch from 03 to 05 were three of the best, and best coached, UK teams I’ve seen. The 03 team, in particular, played the best team defense I’d ever seen. Those teams might’ve met disappointment in the tourney, but they still played mighty damn good basketball. And without a Pitino recruit to be found.

*sigh* Look, Cal has had more success that Smith, I'm not questioning that. He had lower lows, too. But in any case, Smith was NOT a disaster here.

Over 10 years, Smith had:
1 NCAA title
3 Elite Eights (and was one uncalled foul at the end of regulation in '05 from another FF - Sparks was as automatic as you can get in that situation)
5 SEC regular season titles
5 SEC tournament titles
A winning record against every other SEC team
Went 62-42 against ranked opponents
Never missed the NCAA tournament, never suffered a first round loss

And as for the tired "wining with Rick's team", he won it with a team Rick DIDN'T win with. The '97 and '98 tournament teams had the same set of Mohammed, Padgett, Turner, Edwards, Magloire, and Mills, but Pitino also had Mercer, Epps and Prickett whereas Tubby had Sheppard, Saul and Michael Bradley.

I'll say this, Calipari's time here has made me view Tubby in another light. I loves some of those teams, they were UK all the way, and competed hard. Tubby never had us in jeopardy of losing our prestigious position other than his elite 8 losses, but he was really close. NO tournament misses, and some of the best players who have come through this program. Nobody loves UK like some of those guys.

The Calipari worship is at an unhealthy level. I just cannot see why.
