They actually have some history in late 50's and 60's.
NCAA Tournament Final Four: 1956
NCAA Tournament Elite Eight: 1956, 1967
NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 1955, 1956, 1957, 1965, 1966, 1967

They haven't won an NCAA game since 1988 with four tries.

Had a somewhat relevant in year in '93 then 2015 and 2017.

I think this merely adds up poll points, so it is based on number of appearances in the poll. I can't recall if Nolan's first year NIT champions ever made the polls, but by the end of the year - and considering that the NCAA tournament was smaller (48), TU was clearly a top 25 team that year.

Some very odd placements - OU is much higher than OSU, which does not make any sense from my perspective.

Criteria for the rankings started in 1949. OSU's natty's were in '45 and '46.

That explains it. OSU had a long dry spell in the 60s-70s (???) pre Sutton as well.

Wow! Did not realize they were NCAA when my parents were toddlers.

Oklahoma City's last year in D1 was '84-'85. They were in the same conference as ORU, Butler, Xavier & Saint Louis before dropping down to NAIA.

They played TU on a consistent basis until the mid-'70s. Pretty cool that they made the top 90 despite having been out of the NCAA for 30 years.

Oklahoma City's last year in D1 was '84-'85. They were in the same conference as ORU, Butler, Xavier & Saint Louis before dropping down to NAIA.

They played TU on a consistent basis until the mid-'70s. Pretty cool that they made the top 90 despite having been out of the NCAA for 30 years.

And a mere 7 spots behind Tulsa. :-/
