Scott Frost with no assistants because he doesn't need any
We'll be 20-0 for 50 years straight before we move up to the NFL where we'll be Superbowl champs for manother 50 years

I don't hate Riley. He did what any of us would have done if we were in his shoes and were offered the job.

That being said he should have never been offered the job to begin with.
His last 5 seasons at OSU are more than enough to disqualify him.

The last 5 seasons of a veteran coach who had a system firmly in place. Look at those results. There is nothing being built there and no consistency.

Year 3 at NU and it's the same story. Yes the natives will get restless when they go from 9 wins a year to this. It shouldn't be a huge surprise to anybody that people are getting fed up at this point.

What's more surprising is that people are ready to settle for 6-7 wins and giving Riley another year or two in hopes that he suddenly stops being what he has been his entire career. He's 64, he's not turning into a championship caliber college football coach.

I think he's a good person, a true competitor, and a very smart coach. I don't hate him at all, I really wanted him to work out. But I won't follow blindly into the abyss like I did with Callahan. Fool me once.

That's what is shocking to me, how someone could be happy with what Callahan, Riley, or Pelini. We're Nebraska dammit!

It's not that Riley has been as good as I'd like, but really this outcry to drown out this season is being pushed by those that never liked Riley in the first place. They feel vindicated with every loss. Newsflash: Riley gets another year barring a team collapse.

For those that want a Meyer or Saban, you're not going to get one at NU without bag men. Otherwise, you're just going to have to be patient and build a foundation. If Riley can't do it after his guys are upper class men then his replacement will inherit a healthy program. To say that Riley got one when he came in is dishonest.

y'all putting too much on the word hate, I just meant dislike his record.
point being I want to be 13-0 every year, but here in the real world, it's not that easy at all.
the reason I want it signed it so if riley gets canned and we are at the same point in 3 years with a new coach...I don't want to hear, "ahh he sucks" in 58 different thread titles. I can understand venting after the game. but some folks seem like unless we are the 95 Huskers every year, we need to blow up the coaching staff every other year.

To act as if it's a foregone conclusion that we will have a healthy program if we give Riley four years without a "collapse" is dishonest.

Are you guys friggin serious?? Since our win against Purdue last year which was not exactly a blowout we have won 5 and lost 7 games - Of those 7 we have a 59 point loss to OSU, 30 point loss to Iowa, a loss to NIU,gave up 42 points and 400 yards in one half to Oregon and now were shown to be little wimps by Wisconsin

How in the world can any of you guys sit there with a straight face and think this is just a little hiccup by a Riley coached team and we are progressing. I dont hate Riley -the man - I hate what Riley the coach has produced in a football team at NU -

There are very good reasons to let him continue coaching this year but if the season continues to tank as it has anything past that is a very questionable decision

I doubt we would have fired the AD in September if that were the case.

I don't remember Eichorst at the press conference 3 years ago saying: "Our goal is just to not collapse in Year 3". He said we have to win the "games that matter". Riley is winless against our top division rivals.

If you're so tired of seeing a gazillion threads started by the so-called Riley haters, why did you start another pissing match with them?

I'm not sure which there are more of at this point - the "let's get rid of Riley" threads or the "Look at me! I'm Johnny SuperFan!" threads scolding the people who want Riley gone.

Why is it always redirected to a "who can do better" mentality? It's toddler level.

I don't know who will do better. All I know is I have seen enough from Riley to know he doesn't have what it takes to get NU to championship games of any kind. If you still believe Riley will be winning championships of some kind at NU more power to you. Just know that his resume doesn't support your reasoning.

vegas says Nebraska win not win more than 6 games, should I bet the house on this? qb's that can hit a 10 yard pass seem to be my ace in the hole.

don't fret, we finally are getting a passing qb for a passing offense!
(let just hope they don't switch to a system for a run pass qb next year.)

perhaps you shouldn't be demanding that others start making predictions

Two questions:
1. do you think calllahan deserved more time? No "if", I mean as it was.
2. What constitutes a team collapse in your opinion?

Please explain to me how being disappointed with this team (losses to NIU and 2 blowouts) to the point you want the coach fired = wanting the team to be 13-0 every year. Please.
I've asked others who have posted similar things to make it seem like all the fans expect titles by now, but alas only crickets.

So, unless one is thrilled with MR's extremely marginal results we're then "MR haters!!!"

My God......how stupid can this get?

I guess Im looking at the big picture, I grew up watching NU football during the 70's 80's and 90's. and I don't remember firing the coach every other year. in fact one big plus is we had a lot of coaches with decades of experience. so when we would play another team, all of milt's and dan young boys knew who they were going to block. mcbride had a good clue of who need to do what also. It also seemed like Dr. Tom had a lil system going himself. this experience seemed to pay off.

we have had 3 coaches since Dr. Tom left and kept them an average of lets say 4 years. how has this panned out for us?
where do we find ourself today?
is this high coaching turnover a wise thing?
the results I have seen suggest not.

I have no problem with real NU fans being upset. what I do have a problem with is knee jerk reactions that will leave NU going thru coach after coach without them building anything.

we gave spaz bo like 7 years, and now we want to can riley after not even 2 and a half years? this seems questionable to me.

expecially when riley is probably trying to do the hardest thing possible, building a pure passing offense at Nebraska.

I think we are lucky to have Riley. If we stay within 59 points that proves progress. Hopefully he gets a five year extension.

Mike Riley should be judged on the job he has done after he has had two full graduating classes of HIS recruits.
In all fairness, and I know you are kidsing, this isn't what Riley fans are currently saying.
Gotta be fair.
