Change in 6-man:

McCool Junction will play Sioux County today (Thursday) in Chappell in a neutral site contest. McCool Junction was scheduled to face Santee, but that school is shut down through Friday because of a COVID-19 case with a student.

Sioux County was originally supposed to have a bye this week, but the Warriors had an opening on their schedule because their game with Guernsey-Sunrise (Wyoming) on Sept. 18 was canceled.

According to McCool Junction officials, the game will be considered more of a controlled scrimmage and will not count as an official NSAA game.

Controlled scrimmage or game, the contest does not count in the NSAA eyes. Honestly as a coach week 1, schedule it. Get a game in at least, with the current situation you don't know how many games you're really going to get to play this season. Let the kids play. Later in the season it gets to be a tougher decision. Do you schedule a game that won't count in NSAA and chance a kid getting hurt in that said game? Or do you want to keep the kids in a rhythm and schedule a game? Or do you take the Friday off and treat it as a normal bye week? Playing in college, bye weeks were great. As a high school coach, bye weeks are a nightmare in my opinion.

agree with bye weeks but someone must not wanted a real game, cause if i am going we are playing a game, but gotta take what you can get sometimes

Some other COVID updates:

- Omaha Nation and Winnebago will be asking the NSAA for permission to play football in the spring in their new league, the 9-man All-Nations League for Native American schools in Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. Plans are for a six-game regular season and three playoff rounds that would run from April to early June

- Sumner-Eddyville-Miller and Stuart will not play next week after Stuart reported a case of COVID-19 this week

- In volleyball next week, matches involving Lincoln East, Stuart and Sandhills/Thedford have been postponed due to COVID-19

- Omaha Nation is going fanless for home volleyball matches this year, it's only fall sport this year

The Blair at Plattsmouth game is postponed due to phone lines being cut and fire alarms not operational at Plattsmouth. The game is postponed because it is a life safety issue.

The McCool Junction / Sioux County game wasn't even a game from what I've read.....more a scrimmage.
