One bad half where we played bad and a top five team played well, and all the chicken littles come flocking. First half of the season, against a top five team.

Good point but the effort’s not there. I don’t ‘like’ to lose but I ‘hate’ when we don’t compete. That’s not UK basketball.
There will be a run by UK didn’t help Duke was on fire and breaks went their way on loose balls. Still think this will come down to the end. Will be historic turn around
SemperFiCat, you are right but even you have to admit that we have been witnessing a huge difference in talent between these two teams and it's hard to watch as a UK fan. I absolutely hate Duke but, I admit, they look sensational. Hoping we see them cool off a bunch in 2nd half and we heat up a little, at least and make a game of this. Otherwise, not a good start to the season for what we were expecting. So, I'm not surprised that some are jumping off bridges tonight. I'm still hopeful for the season, of course, but Duke does look that good tonight.
No. There isn't a talent gap. They got off to a great start with the threes, got momentum, and took us out of our game. I didn't like the first few lineups, at all.

Why do we look SO bad relatively speaking?. With their stars sitting a lot too. IDK, but I hope Cal figures these guys out.

This game is over. Duke doesn’t even feel threatened. No pressure. Our team folded. I thought we had some killers. They must have died.
I think the majority of our fans are a little surprised by the lack of effort defensively. However, I don’t hold fans accountable for what they post in the heat of the moment. We all say things we don’t really mean at times.
This team will win its share of games. Nothing wrong making the tournament every year with a chance for a Final Four or better a lot of times.
I think I am shell shocked. I thought it would be at least closer even if we lost. I just don't know what to say.
You watching the same game? You really don't think Reddish, Williamson and Barrett haven't looked much better than all our guys? And, I'm only naming those 3 at this point. We're down 23 and you don't see any talent difference?
Duke is better than us. It's that simple. And believe me, it makes me physically sick to say that. I have been so pumped up for the season to start and I'm not by any means giving up. But I thought we were better and tougher than we look. I am embarrassed by the way we are playing, considering the 5 stars we have and Travis.

These Cats are not even close to the talent level of this Duke team folks. It sucks balls but it's true.
The talent level difference isn't as great as you might think, but just based on this game, it would appear so. Duke got hot early, played great, and UK is playing BAD ATROCIOUS. but it's no excuse for the chicken littles to flock together and take over the board.

You can't be optimistic or positive here anymore. You just can't. Too much negativity and too much internet tough guy attitude here. It's not worth it posting here very much any longer. I think that's why so many of us old timers don't come here near as much as we used to in previous years. I've been happy not coming here as much over the past few seasons. Makes for a much happier fan experience for me, instead of trying to be positive and optimistic, all the negative comments and incessant back-biting and incriminations and insults is just childish and immature, far below me to even want to stick around and read such disgusting drivel that is spewed here on this board most of the time.

I'll stay positive and optimistic for a great season and great strides to be seen as we grow and move forward! If you think this is just "one bad half" you need to come up for air. This team has given up 80 point with 14 minutes to go in the game. They quit. You can never take the quit out of quitters.

Duke is younger than us and killing us. We have perhaps the toughest schedule in the country. 10-12 losses not out of the question not to mention what a game like this does to confidence and all the work done in the preseason. There is no positive spin or one game argument to be made

So, at a certain point as a UK fan you have to call a spade a spade. UK was favored in this game. Talent was supposed to be reasonably similar. Not even close. And our players came out scared timid and just to a man outhustled and outclassed.
No reasonable person can refute this. No moral victories in this one. Season is not lost but I am reevaluating my expectations dramatically at this point. Hope I’m wrong.
