Religions are all in the same bowl, especially if one is not religious. Ultimately, religion had been the backbone of virtually every war. If not every war. Perhaps not solely in the name of religion, a la, the crucades, but almost every instigator or actor has been proven to have acted upon his/her religious beliefs.

Think about it for a bit.

This is an old myth repeated so many times some people now accept it as gospel.

Please explain how the following wars were instigated or fought in the name of religion:
American Revolution
French Revolution
American Civil War
Napoleonic Wars
WWI
WWII
Korea
Russian Revolution

Also explain how these mass murders- which are an act of war against a population by its own leadership was religious in nature:
Mao- the atheist killing 60,000,000 of his own people implementing communism
Stalin- the atheist killing 40,000,0000 of his own people implementing communism

Religion is like any tool, can be used for good or bad. I'm not religious myself but thought it was a nice video showing how much Frost cares about his players and motivates some of them to play for their teammates instead of just themselves.

Jebus, it’s almost as if none of you understand how religion, breaking it down completely, can affect one’s views. And behaviors. And actions. Also, fyi, atheism is considered a form of religion.

Atheism isn't a religion, even when it is considered like a religion.

There are spiritual people who try to turn the tide against the Kenny Loggins of the faith.

When the Bolsheviks rose up the first target was religion. They offered worship of the State or death. Be thankful for religion. For all the bad it does if it wasn't there it would be 1984 up in this mother.

Atheism and Agnosticism are also religions. As is science. Takes a lot of faith to believe something is out there or nothing at all.

A deeper question: why do you think it isn’t 1984 all up in this mother? It already is. I guess it just isn’t transpiring the way in which Orwell wrote.

A “gut feeling,” eh? Like, faith, for example? Ok, then. This is why I try not to have discussions about religion with anyone. Nevertheless, my contention is that religion has made the world evil. And starts wars. And killing.

It’s cool that you recently read a book about The War of 1812. Perhaps you are or were a history major. Good for you. If, however, you are not able to think in the abstract, there is nothing left I have to say.

Logic will never prevail with humanity, it seems. That’s why the US has an idiotic, self-proclaimed sexual predator/buffoon, whose hair looks like it fell out of an old oak tree from a squirrel’s nest, “running” our country. A sign of the times.

See there are a lot of assumations, and yes history is my thing so you've that assumption right.

I highly doubt a Muslim coach explaining his approach to coaching through his religious lens would have garnered nothing more from you than a like.

How you went from 0 to anti Christian in .01 seconds is very telling to me, and I would say that is a signs of the times, but,.. as Jesus said to us:

"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I choose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me."

Don't know if this was to turn into religion is good or bad conversation. Just to point out what a committed guy he is to things in his life. God just happens to be one of those things. Also about putting others first. Which is what our team needs to do and hasn't .

This was not posted to become a thread about the good and/or evil of religion. Of course, I knew some would take it there. I'm not about to engage in that exercise in futility.

It was simply posted to give some insight into Frost's worldview. Whether his basis for putting other's first and having a foundation in his life other than football is based on his faith or something else, I think it gives a good idea of his values, the type of man he is, and the type of coach he is.

That is all.

Atheism is, however, a faith all its own. You have to have faith, that an uncreated universe is the Truth and is the reality, because you cannot definitely prove it otherwise. How you go about that religiously depends upon the individule, as there are no atheistic churches...so to speak with leaders giving definite instructions on what and how to think or behave...unless you want to consider certain atheistic professors at major State Universities filling that role nowadays.

But there is a Freedom from Religion foundation where by they attack, and it's not even close, MOSTLY the Christian contribution to life in all of society....they hardly dare touch the Muslim contingent for.... mortality sake both bodily and politically.

Agnosticism as I understand it, takes the position of "I don't know"....one way or the other. It is a state of being where one is in a holding pattern of unbelief of, or in, a Divine Creator, but also not convinced of an uncreated universe. Ill have to re study to be 100% on that.

In the video Scott Frost was simply saying that faith in Jesus Christ who died for us sinners, paid the price for our sin penalty and he has trusted in Jesus Christ by faith. Jesus is his ROCK, Scott's foundation.

Conversely if someone places his faith on "anything' else, he is building his faith on shifting sand. So when trials and tribulations come plus the upcoming Judgment, which will hold; The ROCK or shifting sand?

Actually, that's the attitude I have a problem with. Ameer Abdullah would not want to build anything on Jesus's rock or whatever, because he's a devout Muslim. So if the attitude is that you're either "all in" as a Christian, or you're not welcome here, that's a bad way to run a football program. My first criteria for recruiting would be whether the athlete can throw, catch, block, or tackle, and put acceptance of Jesus as their Lord and Savior on the list of extracurriculars.

I'm very sure Ron Brown and many discussions with Ameer. Ameer may only have been a Muslim in culture only, not a practicing one who bowed down towards Mecca 5 times a day and practiced the 5 pillars of Islam. Scott Frost will accept any player regardless of his personal faith. However is Jesus a liar or telling the truth when He said; "I am the way the truth and the life. No one goes to the Father but by me."

Ameer's position coach was Ron Brown, the most outspoken Christian football coach ever. They got along great.

"I've cried with Coach Brown a couple times," Abdullah said. "I've shared a lot of things with him [and] he with me. We have that trust level. He's called me at night sometimes when he has a problem and asked me to pray for him. And I've done the same for him. That bond has helped me feel really secure and welcome here. I feel like he's part of my family, really."

To a Christian, Jesus was telling the truth when he said that. To a practicing Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Taoist, or atheist, he was just another man saying something that may or may not have been true. Do you honestly expect non-Christians to accept tenets of a faith other than their own? Have you accepted Muhammad as God's prophet?

Absolutely not. Muhammad was a killer and child rapist. He wasn't God in the flesh like Jesus and he is not a person of the trinity nor the Word of God (logos). Sorry he doesn't even hold a candle when compared to the Lord Jesus Christ!

You believe in a fictional being in the sky, responsible for all good and evil in the world, apparently. Ask yourself: Who in this situation seems crazy?

And why is it we’re constantly told about Jesus and god? It’s not as if I haven’t heard of “him.” As if God has/had a weiner, which is even more ridiculous.

Thanks for overwhelmingly proving my point. Not everyone shares your overly enthusiastic views of the Jewish carpenter. Probably best to keep religion out of football.

Student athletes have many different organizations to join, including volunteer work, student outreach, and more. You make these groups available to those who are interested, but you don't require or expect anybody to join.

I had an opportunity to join FCA in high school, but declined because it did not interest me. If someone would have started with a high pressure sales pitch to attend a meeting, it would have been a huge turn-off. I don't think you win football games by alienating some of your teammates.

I would bet a large sum of money that if you asked Scott Frost if he is religious - he would emphatically answer no. Most religions - Christian included - are man made institutions that start to resemble Washington DC before long. Scott has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and follows His words in the Bible. Period. Most the other BS is man/female/insert your option made.

I stand by what I said in my “last paragraph.” But you are correct - I’m angry that people continue to defend a spoiled, tax and military-dodging, rich bag of dicks. Don’t act as if you don’t understand this. I know you do.

Why Jebus has to infiltrate the topic of a football board, I’ll never know. It’s no wonder people love Trump and Jebus: neither pay their taxes. And bilk you all.

Which part of Scott has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and follows His words in the Bible did you not understand?
I have a personal relationship with Jebus as well. He visits me every morning while I’m in the bathroom. I keep telling him to give me some privacy, but he doesn’t listen. “He” just sits there and stares at me while I am on the toilet, which is off-putting.

All parts. But especially the part where you said “His words.” Does jesus speak to you?
My point was - Scott did not say “religion” in his interview. Yes, I have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I understand your skepticism, but no need to be disrespectful. I can believe there is life after death and you can believe we cease to exist after death. We will figure out who is right or wrong someday. Until then, we can be Husker fans and be excited about a promising new coach - who not matter what his beliefs are - appears to be a very effective coach.
