Third-teamers, according to Pro Football Focus:
  • RB Dedrick Mills
  • WR Wan'dale Robinson
  • PR J.D. Spielman
Coaches all-conference defense:
  • CB Lamar Jackson (2nd team, media also)
  • DE Khalil Davis (3rd team, coaches only)
And that's it.

Coaches and media all-conference offense announced Wednesday, but doubtful we'll have a first-teamer.

In 2018, we had:
  • WR Stanley Morgan (2nd team)
  • WR J.D. Spielman (3rd team)
  • LB Mo Barry (3rd team)
In 2017, we had:
  • WR Stanley Morgan (2nd team)
  • WR J.D. Spielman (3rd team)
In 2016, we had:
  • WR Jordan Westerkamp (3rd team)
  • OT Nick Gates (3rd team)
  • S Nathan Gerry (3rd team)
Our most recent consensus first-team all-conference player was punter Sam Foltz in 2015.

Among position players, our most recent consensus first-team all-conference players were WR Kenny Bell and DE Randy Gregory in 2014.

That's FIVE FULL SEASONS without a first-team all-conference position player.

So why are we so bad?

No JD from the coaches or media? Wasn't he 4th or 5th in the conference in receiving yards?

So the last first team all conference players for Nebraska were players who were both recruited and coached by Bo Pelini. As well as 2nd n 3rd team Jordan Westerkamp, Nate Gerry and Nick Gates. Also Khalil Davis and Stanley Morgan were Pelini recruits and I believe Charlton Warren recruited Mo Barry also.

My Question is what the hell have Nebraska coaches been doing the last 5 years at Nebraska?? If Bo was a such a lousy coach and recruiter what does that make the coaches we had since?

Talking bout living off your ex....it's time for someone to buy the groceries because refrigerator is empty now!

Go away troll, bo had a lot more misses than had success. I don’t miss him one bit. Looks like his time at Youngstown state is just about done!!!

OSU with 7. Michigan with 6.

I bet you don't need three guesses as to which teams have had the best recruiting classes in the conference the last several years.

So, if a guy that won 9-10 games a season at Nebraska scrapes by at a little over .500 at Youngstown, is it remotely possible that it has more to do with Youngstown than the coach?

YSU has great FCS level facilities.....but get on Google Maps and look at the neighborhoods to the north, east, and west of campus. I'm guessing it isn't that easy of a place to recruit to nowadays. YSU is also in the SEC of the FCS (5 teams in the playoffs). I'm guessing he'd have been fired already if they were going to after this season.

Yeah...they were a power once. However, they've been to the playoffs twice since 2000.....and one of them was with Pelini.

No real surprise here. Have to quit churning coaches, period, and let players develop in a system.

We’re not going to get any first-team guys until we win some big games. Dropping games to Indiana and Purdue will put our boys in the All-Honorable mention at best. 1st team guys shine on the bright stage, not choke away.

I said those three were Pelini recruits.........reading is fundamental

Why didn’t any P5 schools hire him in fact why didn’t any fcs school?

I said they were Pelini and staff RECRUITS. Reading is still fundamental isn't it??
But apparently common sense isn't. Giving a guy who never coached a kid and wasn't even the HC when they signed credit for their success if pretty comical.

Surprised to see no Huskers made even the third team. I mean Speilman had like what, 900ish yard receiving? Wandale the swiss army knife? Jaimes? Mills?? Thats about all I would actually think stood a chance, but I guess not...tough crowd!

Probably because of the leaked audio of him saying things about the AD that have likely been uttered by several other coaches about their ADs from time to time.......

I don't think programs would shy away from someone that went 9-4 or 10-4 all the time because of what happened on the field.

How many jobs did he apply for?

Sounds like he applied for a few while he was still HC of the Huskers.

bro come on now. I guarantee Power 5 was his first option. He didn’t get a sniff from anyone. There’s a reason not one single team was interested in him. He made his own bed.

And was that because of on the field stuff, or off the field stuff?

And...as I said, YSU has been down for some time. Sounds to me like he still has his job there.

no clue, I’m not the ADs that passed on him. You got eyes and ears, what did you see and hear on why they all passed on him? I’m not biting, you’re going to have to tell me why.

Reportedly, quite a few while he was here. No idea how many since he left. WKBN doesn't track his current job seeking habits, just the typical angry / short answer interviews he gives.

Would have worked out great for everyone involved if he were capable of landing a p5.
