Let's talk. I'm excited to see my Dawgs play for the first time this year. Anxious to hear about possible suspensions from the jamboree. Does anyone have anything on AC? Any updates on Burns?

From my understanding AC has almost an entire team returning kinda like Hibriten. AC had an undefeated reg season last year? And a really good JV team behind that. If the undefeated thing is true from last year it may fall in the cats favor. Of course they didn’t play anybody except Watauga so who knows.

10-1 Last year with loss to Hickory.... Lost their QB(Lenoir Rhyne) and best athlete(Coastal Carolina)... Not sure about their JV team but do have some returnees back from varsity

As bad as Burns was last year, we should have won at AC. I'm not a believer in their 10-1 record last year. Hopefully we can put a full game together.

It may come down to whatever AC team decides to show up. Winning against Watauga was no easy tasks, came down to wire against a North Lincoln team that went 2-9 in season. Lost to Hickory? Don’t remember that, maybe I do, but Hickory wasn’t exactly a feared team in the area...however they always have athletes. Whooped Freedom hands down, nobody saw that one coming, especially since Freedom only lost by a touchdown to Shelby. After that game I’m sure many thought Freedom was on their way to a decent season at the very least and then they forgot to play when AC rolled into the stadium.

I’d say game will come down to whoever wants it more. Not saying Burns or AC will have upper hand in anything and could be evenly matched in some positions.

AC has got some pretty good athletes still there from a good season ago. Burns lost that game last year just as much as AC won it.. hopefully the Bulldogs show some maturity this time around and pull it out. whoever has the least mistakes and no killer turnovers wins this one.

Burns offense looked very good against AC Reynolds. QB Sweezy, RB's CJ Hopper and Kujuan Pryor are very talented running the ball. Still not sure about the Bulldog defense. Alexander Central scored a lot of points last year. I think Burns wins this one based on their new offense.

The suspensions are unfortunate and will not help us at all. I do not know exactly what all happened but I do know that it is not worth it to react and not be able to play with your team. Numbers in football are low in a lot of places and one man can really hurt. Three from what I hear is even worse. Not sure how true that is but we need everyone. This team can be special in many ways but we have to have everyone out there. I still take Burns by 7. Time of possession can be the main thing that wins this one.

Suspensions for something that happened in a scrimmage that took place before the official start of the regular season and school year? That must be a coaching decision.

That's what I'm thinking. I work with a high school football ref and he wasn't sure if that was NCHSAA rules or not. He didn't think so. I can't blame Devine for suspensions if that is the case though. Got to teach these kids.

Yes the consequences have been handled internally by the staff is what I was told today.

Burns kids need to be taught discipline now. It’s way better to risk losing a game against ALexander Central than to risk losing a conference going down the road.

Which is why it was handled the way it was. Some coaches care more about having that "star" player on the field to increase chances of winning and disregard whether the player learned a lesson. All about that W. Devine and staff hopefully sent a message with how this was handled.

I have a sneaky feeling that Burns will win this game pretty comfortably. I just don’t know where AC will be Offensively.... lost at least 80-85% of their offensive scoring to graduation. Points might be hard to come by early in the year for AC. 34-14 Burns is my guess

Chase got rained out during 10 min play. Burns scored 3 times and looked great. No defensive session due to lightning.
AC Reynolds in the jamboree. Burns ran it down their throat and couldn’t be stopped for the most part. Had one drive stall on 4th and inches, fumbled the opening drive (questionable) but were driving it on the ground with ease. One pass attempt. Skill players are pretty good! Defense had some good and bad moments. We will know everything tomorrow night minus missing a key d lineman. I gathered all of this by reading on here and 1 1/2 scrimmages I watched in person. O line is big and very well coached.

Another poster on the South Fork forum said that North Lincoln scored twice on y’all before it got called off. I’m not a die hard fan of any school wearing apparel at the games. I hope EB will improve but I don’t typically watch their games, I jump around, I have my favorites- usually the underdogs having success whatever school that may be in the area. Hibriten winning a state title, looking back this team has, as a better word, sucked all through the 80s and 90s and some in the 2000s. Some spurts of a good season here and there but NOTHING like 2009, 2010 and last 2 years. Good for them. Foard in 2005 was nice, fell off fast afterwards but is now improving. You get what I’m saying? Ha ha.

North Lincoln has been in the dumps for a while but seems to be on the verge of a differ season this year. They scrimmage ya, I just wanted your take on them.

They done a number on Thomasville scrimmage but not sold on them based on that game cause TVille has struggled a while according to posters- not me. All I say carries no 100% certainties sometimes and am not afraid to admit it, that’s why we have forums so some of us can get real scoops and corrections. So what did the NL scrimmage look like?

Since this is a AC game thread, Hickory was ACentrals only reg season loss last year. Nobody has even made mention of Hickory in any forum that I’ve seen. Are people sleeping on this team? It is a team the cougars will face later on and is way too early to be taking bout them too when this is not their game. Just one comment or two bout what’s going on with them and that’s it. I’ve seen threads were the whole thing was suppose to be about one school and before you know it the whole thing turned into talk about West Caldwell, some about football and some
About basketball. Bout like talking bout the Altlanta Braves when the Hornets are playing the Lakers ha ha.

Tried to watch what I could online but we got our asses kicked. They beat us on the line all night and the team I saw in the jamboree wasn’t the same team I saw tonight. Central looked good. I’m just not sure what to think at this point.

Well i went to the game. All i can say is I have not been this disappointed in a Burns team in a long long time. I guess it is due to all the preseason talk about us supposedly being so improved. Well based on what i saw tonight its just talk and i hate to say that. I will sum up by saying if I didn’t know better i would have sworn Senseney was back because thats the last time we looked like this.

Too predictable.... Bottom line!
What was predictable? When you type bottom line you have to post something before it that is just awesome. Then drop the mic. Burns got beat up front and when that happens it doesn’t matter how many times you throw it or run it. When the qb dropped back he was running from pressure. The big passes they completed took a lot of effort. We lost at the line of scrimmage. Keep in mind, AC is pretty damn good. Tough running backs. Was the defense too predictable? They got handled pretty bad too. On the field all night.
