Looks like a project, but with Benhart and Corcoran coming in, I suppose we can afford to take a guy like this who will need a few years of development.

So there must be some debate going on inside his head between us and Iowa St.

I think Gunnerson is showing respect for Iowa State and just completing the process of due diligence, but my guess is he’s fully N.

After a little drought, there’s several players we could be picking up soon. (Blaise, Polar Bear, Conn, etc.)

I know we are coming off back 2 back 4-8 years but when it comes down to us and Iowa st there is little comparison. Especially if he wants a chance to win championships and make it to the NFL in the near future. I mean Iowa st is Iowas whooping boy. That right there should tell a kid all he needs to know about a school.

I mean Iowa St. did send two people to the NFL last year which is double what we have sent over the past two years combined

recruits are concerned with what a team has done within the last 5 years...since they were like 12 when that time period began. We are and have been an absolute dumpster fire since 2014...I hope fans fully understand how far we had fallen when Frost took over...much farther than when Bo took over and in an era where lack of depth is nearly impossible to erase. Everything that has changed about college football has benefited the richest teams in the areas with the most talent. The change to juco/walkon/roster size, the change to academics, the change to satellite camps, the propensity of transfers, the transfer rules, HS football academies, elite 11...nothing happens in college football unless it benefits Alabama, Clemson, Georgia..and as a result decades of these changes have left the likes of Iowa state and nebraska on equal footing. We have a larger fan base that is dying out and giving less, and we have one more generation of former players willing to coach us...we are one failed coach away from being permanently irrelevant.

I can agree with that. I said right after Frost was hired that this is our last chance. If he can't get this team back to winning, there isn't a coach in the country who can. Yes, you are right we will forever be on level playing field with Iowa, NW, Purdue, MN. Where getting a 7 8 or 9 win season is viewed as a success and getting anything above that is view as a NC. I pray we don't get to that point, but we are getting very close.

Why do you even post here? Seriously, what pleasure do you take crapping on everything Nebraska?

If you see it as this way, get lost. It amazes me that this is all you do.

Yeah it amazes me the negativity that a few "husker fans" have. Or they are Iowa fans in deep disguise. lol Like I said I get being skeptical, I understand not getting too excited, I get what the last 4 years have done to all of us mentally. However it doesn't take a genius to see that things are different in Lincoln. Im not saying we are going to be 90s level great, but we sure as hell are going to be way better than what has been put on the field these last 4 years. That in itself should give cause to be positive and excited. I seriously think some people in general just always have a half empty type of mindset. We could be winning championships and these same people would still be finding things to be negative about. Would hate to go through life like that.

You two need to transfer to Oregon State. Good things happening in Lincoln. You'll realize it eventually.
Where did I say good things weren't happening? Simpy agreed if Frost for some reason can't get it done that nobody can. If we don't get it turned around this time we will be stuck in the same Iowa footprint. The same way that it should be for the constant negative people on here to see the good that is happening here. It should also be pretty obvious to the super positive that Frost is the best shot we have and if he can't make it work nobody will. Not being negative, it is what it is.
Im as supportive as you will find on Frost and what is happening in Lincoln. I believe he will get this program back to winning championships in the very near future. Hell I even go over to Iowa board and show my support there:)RollingLaugh

Nebraska and Iowa St are far from being on equal footing. Go take a peak at their record the last 5,10, 15 20 years. Now yes since Campbell has arrived they have shown signs of life these last 2 years. 2 years of them having a pulse and 2 years of us sucking is far from equal footing. Now if you want to say we are equal footing with Iowa, or Mn or NW . I can't really argue that. Iowa st come on man.

Negativity about the past isn’t helpful, yet I also realize that one has to be 27 or 28 to have any memory of NU’s last National or Conference championship. Many of us who are much older have the increasingly distant past to hold onto. If we didn’t, perhaps we’d be less excited about the program, too.

You mentioned the last four years as being tough on us as fans. Really, just the last four years have been tough?

That is a good point, the young guys can only remember average to horrible Nebraska. There is no positive memories to draw from.

Never changed my tune at all. Not my fault your reading comp skills are lacking. Saying someone can't do something, and saying IF they can't are 2 different things.

My gut tells me that the next two years will determine the following 20. Another bowl-less season would be devastating. Conversely, get to 10+ wins in at least one of the next two seasons and recruits will take notice. We HAVE to build on the excitement that the last few games created last year.

Yep, If we can be 4-0( very confident we will be) going into that Ohio St game potentially a night game in Lincoln and hearing rumblings GameDay ( the only even possible competition would be USC vs Washington) might show up if both are undefeated. The Buzz and excitement for that game would be huge. If we get a win, that will get a lot of attention from not only recruits but from the rest of the country. We then have NW (possible trap game) then @ MN. Get past those 2 and we could be heading into Wisc 9-0. Would think would be ranked in top 10 at that point

Bo Pelini years where not the greatest but as for win/loss view...it wasn’t bad. Bo Pelini always had at least 9 wins. Nothing less and nothing more then 10 wins. Some fans could live with that while others (like ourself seen past the 9 plus wins and what was going on). But Bo did get us to a number of division titles and he got us to a number conference championships...he just couldn’t win them (heck if we where Iowa, we’d handed Bo Pelini raises ;)). But dudes right, only the past 3 of 4 years has been bad bad. Before that you have to go back to Callahan.

I have seen this mentioned quite a few times. The young men coming in don’t remember it directly but they all know the Huskers past and tradition. They also know we are still barely holding onto the Blue Blood status. Yes, they don’t remember those years by memory but don’t fool yourself any...they do know all about us. I see and hear 16-18 year kids now constantly saying they know the Huskers are a blue blood team that’s had a rough few years but Scott Frost is an elite Head Coach and he has them on the rise. They may not have watched us and have their own memories...but they do know and they do keep up.

Bo Pelini never beat ANYONE & if you think kids wanted to play for a stark raving mad lunatic you should be institutionalized right next to those neanderthals

don't be delusional about the past. we've been an absolute embarrassment since the day we lost the Rose Bowl to Miami.

there is no 2 ways about it.

You definitely took that wrong. You could search my past posts and see I’m no Bo Pelini fan. If you truly read my post you’d seen I wasn’t bragging about the man, I said some felt they could live with it because he always posted 9-10 wins. Heck, the only freaking reason I mentioned him was because i was making a point. Come on brotha...TRULY read what I’m saying. Not a select few parts.

We didn’t realize it then but that was one of...actually his ONLY real accomplishment.

At Nebraska, the football team has been highly successful since its beginning. From an UNSCORED upon season to undefeated season after undefeated season. All without Bob Devaney, Tom Osborne, Bo Pelini, or Scott Frost.

If SF does not become a highly successful hire, that is still not the end of the road.

It may seem like it for some, or be all some need to think it is, but over the long run history sure as heck does not say that.

It just takes someone who can get it done.
