The head of Jeep’s owner said he is open to dropping the Cherokee name from vehicles after recent criticism from the Native American tribe’s leader.

Carlos Tavares, chief executive officer of the recently formed Stellantis NV, said the company was engaged in dialogue with the Cherokee Nation over its use of the name. Jeep has two models, the Cherokee compact sport-utility vehicle and larger Grand Cherokee, that it sells in the U.S. and beyond.

Will they recover? What a death blow for them.
Maybe, but who knows. Only takes a few thousand people to move the line down a few notches. I still have my Chief Wahoo hat though, so I'll wear that out to the bar every now and then, just to piss off a few redskins.

what is the new name?.....haven't seen it
Probably something like 'Baseball Team'. Worked well for Washington 'Football Team', so they'll probably copy and follow suit.

Yeah the initials CBT would be great to see for that.

My God, dave is a Jeeper. Why didn't I see this before! Makes total sense.

Let me guess you drive a Subaru? And the Grand Cherokee is a hell of a vehicle. It's built on a Mercedes chassis and for it's class stands up very well against its competitors. The Renegade is a Fiat and the Wrangler has it's issues but at least it's built in the US....The Cherokee, well let's not talk about that...I don't drive a Jeep but thinking about a Grand Cherokee as my next vehicle.

Do yourself a favor and consider a Toyota Highlander for your next vehicle in that class......you won't regret it.

I have a Honda Pilot and a BMW and I agree Toyota is a great brand. We had a Sequoia until a tree fell on it and totaled it. We went with Pilot as a replacement and have been happy with it. I really like the 4Runner but I'm sure not we need that big of a vehicle moving forward...hockey, field hockey and driving the kids to events are in our past...but I want to be able to haul things when I want.

Wonder if Elizabeth Warren will weigh in?

My wife got rid of the Range and got a jeep that she’s letting me pimp out for her. It’s mostly a mall crawler, but I’ve had it in some pretty nasty holes. I still prefer my big *** truck, but thats just me.

A chick's car? I guess, but they don't seem worth the hassle of being junk put together by a team of drunks on the assembly line.

I had one back in 01. I never had an issue with it and put almost 130k in it before I sold it.

I had a GC from 94 to 2000. It was a work horse. Fantastic in the snow. Made the trip cross country back and forth.

58,000 miles and 30 months ownership as of this week and not one single repair other than oil changes. I guess I'm an exception.
I knew a lot of guys that had either transmission issues or front suspension issues. Neither are cheap fixes.

Admittedly I went into the purchase with fingers crossed on the transmission because I had heard too many stories. Odd thing is I never, ever liked Jeeps because every one I had rode in was clunky, noisy and just plain uncomfortable. I was moving on from a Dodge Durango that I had had for 16 years and 262,000 miles. Vehicles had changed significantly in those 16 years. I could not find anything I remotely liked. Just more out of frustration than anything I test drove a Grand Cherokee Limited and it came the closest to what I was looking for. So far so good.

I recently dropped the Cleveland Indians as my team, due to their name change.

Mercedes are junk. They have duped people into over paying for the equivalent of a Volkswagen. Same way Hitler duped people. German stuff is lying, cheating junk.

Hey, I've built a lot of stuff while I was drunk, and its all worked out. Well, at least so far. How's that Mileground round-about working out for ya?
