Mother $&@$)! Ash. Was he the DC for this bowl game? The Utes were effectively shut down by the bovines, scoring only 10 points from ~250 off yards. Why did he suck here so bad??

Utah clearly didn't want to be there. After coming so close to making the Final Four, they laid an egg against Oregon in the Pac12 CCG and now against TX in the Alamodome.

It would be a nice bowl trip - San Antonio is an interesting city. But the B1G dropped that bowl in the latest alignment of bowl tie-ins. It seemed like the same few B1G teams were going there year after year and the conference has a few other bowls in Florida that picked before the Alamo Bowl. With the Pac12, it looks like the Alamo gets the next pick after the Rose Bowl, assuming the Pac12 champ is not in the Final Four, which is usually the case.

I wouldn't mind going to that game at some point.

After the Texas Bowl, I took my kids to San Antonio to show them the town they were born in. The Alamo Bowl was two days after our game, so it worked out great, being there in the midst of this great bowl game.

That year was Iowa-Texas, and the night before the game was very cool on the RiverWalk, with a boatload of one school’s alumni singing their school’s fight song as they flowed by, only to be matched by the alumni of the other school who were having dinner together at an outdoor restaurant on the RiverWalk.

We happened to be in the Iowa hotel when the game was over, and the players started returning to their rooms. The highlight was that I had a chance to meet the late Hayden Fry, who was AD at Iowa at the time.

But the Alamo Bowl would easily be the best bowl game RU would have attended, if we get there.

Great story!
