Daryl Norris, a junior on that team as well. I certainly hope we get him, and that he doesn't go pro.

got shelled 16-0 by Northwest Rankin and also lost 6-5 to Terry (they did beat Brandon and Warren Central though).

being a closer. He has a big bat and it's looking good for future pitchers Cohen signed. I believe Bole throws low 90's and being lefthanded can't hurt.

I really like Ethan Bright at first base, though. He is a huge target at 6'5" (compared to Bole at 6'2", which I still consider a big target). I'd like to see Bole in the future either play RF/DH and be the Sat. starter by the time he is a junior. Sort of like what Auburn did to Tim Hudson, who was a fine CF.

I don't think Bright can hit like Bole. Bole not only makes contact but hits with power. To me, he is the star in this coming class. Bright has potential and he can hit with powere, but the big difference is Bole did it consistently and did it alot when the game was on the line. With Bole throwing in low 90's, (yeah he may start but) I really see him as a "Pete Young" type, everything I read talks about how hard he plays. I'm not sold on Bright contributing much next year, hope I'm wrong.

didn't get very much to hit this year. He hit behind David Renfroe all year, and had very little protection in the lineup behind him. As a result he had a ton of walks, and his home run total went down. Needless to say, Bole played in a much better program than Bright.

I do agree that Bright is raw and I do agree that he won't contribute very much next year, unless it's pitching. I think he will be an occasional DH/PH type next year. But, I think Cohen can really help him out at the plate, and he will hopefully be in a much better lineup than he is now. His raw power is definatley intriguing, especially from the left side of the plate.

Bole also has very good power from the left side, but I think the main difference with him is that Bole is much, much more accomplished as a pitcher than Bright. Cohen brought in four pitchers that really stand out to me- Bole, Watson, Stratton, and Bracewell- that I think are definate weekend type starters at some point in their college career. Of course, with only three days in the weekend, one of there is a strong possibility that one of them is going to be the closer. Of that group, I think Bracewell and Bole are the two most likely to assume that role in the future. Most of the other high school guys are pitchers with high ceilings- Miller, Girordo, Matt Lane (who is my sleeper), and Kendall Graveman, who are guys that are likely to be our midweek starters/middle relief guys. And it's possible that one of those guys will step up sort of like Nick Routt did and then all of a sudden they figure in to the rotation.

Look at the CWS- both Texas and LSU basically have two aces, and a pretty good college closer. But their third starters are rather pedestrian, and most of the relief pitchers for both teams are decent at best. Heck, LSU has had to turn to football players to find arms- and wisely so, it appears. I think that shows how valuable pitching is, because if they're playing for the NC with that, think about what would happen if you have three really good weekend guys, a good closer and some decent relief pitchers, you have a real shot at winning a NC.
