Three point shot is very important. Has to be PART of your arsenal----but not damn near ALL of it.

Nova, UVA, Baylor, KU and UNC all averaged 20+ three's a game.

Not 30+....And none of them ever came close to shooting 46.
Times change. And yes that is excessive. But it's early in the year. Seeing how many sentences I can start with a conjunction.

Cal probably could have had Miller and Nick Smith if he made a serious play for them. Instead, we got Sharpe and Livingston.

Can you imagine a roster surrounding Oscar that included 6'4" Wallace, 6'4" Fredrick, 6'5" Smith, and 6'8" Miller?

Cal failed when he brought Sharpe here.
We were leading for miller early... We went on from him and recruited Livingston hard as well as Wallace.

I don't think Cal has ever had a player like Miller. 6'8"-6'9"ish.

Can shoot it, drive it, and plays the 3/4. Perfect compliment to Oscar as a potential stretch 4.

Wallace/ Wheeler
Fredrick
Smith
Miller/ Toppin
Oscar/Ugonna

There's your 8 man rotation.

The problem with Cal’s offense is it seems the wrong player shoots the wrong shot at the wrong time too often. Especially when they let the shot clock go down too far. Take as many threes as you can if they are open and in the hands of a capable shooter.

Good observation and true. I see this constantly. What this amounts to is a discipline issue. Calipari’s teams are very underprepared and undisciplined on the court. It goes back to his early time here. We were so talented (just unheard of talent) that it didn’t completely hurt us (even though we’d have at least one more title with a more disciplined approach).

The problem is the second half of his tenure. Nowhere near the talent but that same “I’m too
Cool for that old **** and conventional understandings). And it’s gotten his *** handed to him to the point where he’s losing his goat legacy all together.

You have to have great preparation and discipline. A player that doesn’t shoot well takes a shot when it’s not the right time they should sit on the bench. Not with Calipari, and he doesn’t correct it either.

His coaching is trash. Total trash.
