do you think Schiano wasn’t negative recruiting Rutgers when he was at OSU? Come on man! It goes with the territory. I would argue that adding Golden would be a stronger move than adding Campanile, though I’d be happy with Campanile.

Al, you know exactly what Doug and I are talking about.

Are you referring to D’onfrio taking lists of recruits and recruiting for UVA while still at Rutgers?

similar allegations were put forward by Miami fans when Schiano left Miami for Rutgers. And they were particularly angry that he went after Miami’s #1 recruit, Antrel Rolle. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. It goes with the territory.

"while still at" and under the employ of Miami? If not it's a different ball game.

Was Schiano sitting in Miami's football office calling recruits on behalf of Rutgers? I don't think so. Now, Al Golden was aware of his coach calling on behalf of UVA out of the Hale Center. Dirty recruiting is a one thing, but this crap is on a whole other level.

What DNofrio did at Rutgers was almost criminal.

There is recruiting kids at your new school that you recruited at your old school. Then there is what he did. Stay on RU’s staff while recruiting kids for his new school. Getting paid by RU and using RU resources. No one has ever accused Schiano of doing that at Miami.

If nothing else, Schiano is a loyal guy. There is a reason he completely cut ties with that guy and that’s why.

When you are recruiting for Ohio State at no point does the word Rutgers ever come into a discussion, so likely he was not negative recruiting us, with Ash, that took care of itself

I'd take him in a heartbeat! The guy is a great defensive coach, and knows how to recruit the hell out of NJ...and has a TON of contacts in the NJ parochial schools in both North and South Jersey..

If Golden has more than one or two solid HS coaching associations left in NJ I'd be shocked. Its been 5 years since he recruited NJ for Miami and 10 years since Temple. It's also highly unlikely Golden would ever consider working for Greg considering his former DC at Miami Mark D'Onofrio didn't have many glowing things to say about Greg when he left town. I'd be shocked if Golden ended up in Piscataway.

Greg may want to look at Matt Limegrover who was recently let go as PSU's OL coach. He might be a good addition to the staff.

Some of our fans can grasp that idea. They just see an available coach and thing it's a pull and play scenario. Forget relationships or history between the parties.

Al checks all the boxes for what RU needs for the future.

So do many other Coaches, Al is one that I know personally as is Harry Hiestand..

They both check off the box of being good coaches with outstanding resumes, of success at both the college level and NFL as well. They automatically upgrade RU in the move up the BIG.

Plus they are part of the biggest plus !; They are BOTH available at this point in time.

We sometimes forget there are those who don't know how Golden and a member of his staff unethically screwed Greg and Rutgers. If it were me I wouldn't hire him to sweep the concourse around the stadium unless he agreed to do it with his tongue.

Yeah, god forbid we get a cut throat recruiter who was doing shady stuff 15 years ago that is standard practice today. Who needs a board full of complaints about January flights to Florida, anyways?

Seems you're forgetting who the shady stuff was done to which just happens to be the guy doing the hiring.

And no, I doubt it's standard practice now.

Sign me up in a heartbeat IF we can't get Anthony Camp.

I don't know if he and Greggie would mesh. Would G.S. be willing to hand
Over the defence entirely, and vice versa?

Please expand on what horrors this man committed, since his 3 future employers didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Some folks look the other way esp. if they have questionable ethics or choose to be ignorant of the details but that doesn't mean others would be cool with it.

Seems like a bit of an overreaction against Golden. D'Onfrio was the issue not him. He made Temple the coaching launching spot and the first to win there. Kinda got hosed at the U. They haven't exactly been the Pride of the ACC. Good eye for talent. He recruited Gus the Bus. Doubt he would even want to come here but we could do a lot worse. NFL assistant, Miami and Temple isn't a bad resume. Should have been hired before Ash.

What you think means nothing. Do you have his Miami office call transcripts? what's your evidence of what Al Golden knew? Recruiting is inherently dirty. Adding Al Golden to the staff makes us better.

The difference Al, one situation is well known, and the other is just a conspiracy by you in an attempt to validate your POV. One's rep doesn't happen by chance. It's the things you do that create them. I'm telling you Al, Golden would be a chemistry problem on the staff just like Mehringer was at Texas.
