Maybe - but anyone who watched the first half would agree Akron’s D is solid.

Their offense is awful. Eventually their D wore down as we saw often against good teams with our D last season. Spotting OSU 10 defensive points didn’t help either (they actually held them to a FG on one pick deep in Akron territory).

370 yards through the third quarter and 45 points by Ohio State is solid?
This OSU team is as scary a team as I can remember. If they don't win it all it's a failure.

Akron looked very solid as long as they could. No shame in that.

I am VERY happy we are playing them AFTER they have played OSU (and not in an opener).

Akron was good last year.
I heard Saban teasing OSU about their 20 million dollar team

Some of their LBs do not look incredibly dynamic with their hips and eyes to me.

Go watch the first half. You guys have short memories. We’ve had strong defenses that broke down in the second half too against the OSU types. Akron’s D is legit. They are better than Indiana was last year, for instance. For sure. Their offense is one of the worst I’ve ever seen for FBS level. But their D is above average.

38 to be fair, they had a scoop and score. Ohio State just started out slow. Akron ain't good.

OSU scored 52. There was a fumble return for TD and a pick 6. There was also another interception thrown deep in Akron territory where the D held them to a FG. So 17 of the 52 points in the game were by the defense.

At one point Akron played 2 QBs at the same time. Will be interesting to see if they try that against us.

2-10 last year.

They weren’t as bad as their record. A lot of close games, but as said, their offense is putrid. I’ll be very happy if we score 24+ offensive points against them keeping in mind that OSU scored 35 (38 if you want to count the FG but they started the drive in FG range and were held).

Or OSU was disorganized out of the gate.
I assumed this. One of the complaints UCLA fans had of Chip Kelly was that he was quite-quitting for years.. mailing it in. I was wondering if his childhood friendship with Ryan Day would make him turn up the effort level again. Still yet to be determined. In any case, lots of new personnel.. could just need time to gel... though they nearly covered that huge 50+ pt spread despite the slow start.

The starter probably won’t be able to go next week. Seemed like he might’ve broken his rib.
oh... great. Rutgers does great vs QB backups.. especially those with a week to prepare. 👀

It is not my imagination, right, the number of times that a backup just has a career game vs Rutgers? We are snakebit vs backups.. right?
