Anyone here use AirTv or anything similar? Have an OTA antenna hooked up to my den TV but would like to stream my local channels on my other 2 rokus without running a bunch of cable. Thanks

I have an Airtv I bought last year since I was running Sling and OTA antenna. The concept was good, but at least then, it really had a lot of glitches. The software would freeze up quite a bit and then remote would have to be “re-paired” to the unit ever so often and it was a pain. I have it sitting in a drawer now.

The current set up is a Roku (YoutubeTV), Channel Master DVR for OTA, Bose surround sound and a Caavo. Short of getting a Roku TV (which I will next time I upgrade) this is about as seamless as it gets for cord cutting. I get a local program guide and about 40 OTA channels in ATL, the Caavo runs everything from one remote (looks almost like a Roku remote) and switches between devices/inputs quickly and smoothly.

I started the cord cutting experience with AirTV, Sling and OTA antenna. As Cap'n Ron said, good concept, nice to have the local channels integrated into the guide, no switching sources back and forth. I, too, experienced a fair amount of glitches and "repairs" issues, and the system just never seemed as stable as i would have liked. Also, my device crashed after about 16 months or so, would not pull in the locals into the guide. I am using Amazon Fire Stick now and just switching over the OTA to watch locals. I personally would not go the AirTV route again. YouTubeTV seems to be a good way to get the locals with the other live TV, and I would go that way if Youtube would work with Amazon Fire Stick. If you have Roku, I'd suggest Youtube.

Interesting timing, I see on Amazon today that the Recast is on sale for $179 (regularly $279).
Don't have any experience with this or any other OTA DVR but there's no monthly fee, it's pretty intriguing.

The recast only works with Fire TV systems right?
