There were lots of obese folks before fast food but not anywhere near what there are now. The degree of obesity has exploded. The only morbidly obese people I can remember from the 60s were post-menopausal stay at home moms cooking for a litter of kids. We’re a wealthy nation with virtually unlimited access to French fries, pop and sweet snacks. Then there’s air conditioning. Working construction in the early 70’s I had a body fat of about zero because I was too exhausted and hot to eat. NOW? Almost everybody has whole house AC.
I remember my 1st car, didn't have A/C. I was bummed, but happy to have my own ride at 16. My dad was like, it has A/C dumb ***. Two windows down and 60 mph.

58, 6 foot, 220. Arthritis is creeping in faster than I want to admit. The doctors say to keep moving to keep joints loose, but moving to keep joints loose is getting hard. 10 years ago I tried to get to "proper" height/weight and it was worst I ever felt. So I guess happy fatty.
I can't take regular Aleve, Ibuprofen or even Rx Celebrex. I got Arthritis in my Neck, Back, Hips, Shoulder and both Elbows. Already had the Knees replaced and 1 ankle repaired, with enough hardware to fix a small block Chevy. Happy fat I is not, I'm glad you found it. On the other side of the coin, I've seen the photo of a guy in a wheel chair shoveling snow. So I could have it worse ;)

Yikes, sorry to hear that. Doing Humera right now. Discovered this 3 years ago. As fast as its coming on, I'm afraid to see what next 6-10 years will be like. Hope you can find some relief.

My first car was a '59 Galaxie with no reverse that I bought for 59.00
You got me beat by a few years, I paid $2k for my 71 Mustang. I got an 8-track player with it, my old man had a Johnny Cash 8-track and it worked. That didn't last till my next pay check and I upgraded to a cassette player and 6x8 speakers.

Good ole days 😁

64 Galaxy. $35 and we had to put a new battery in it. My brother had traded it in a year earlier so we knew it ran. You had to fill up the transmission fluid every half tank of gas. All forward gears went out on it taking my first date back to her farm 15 miles from town. I backed half a mile in to the farmyard of one of her neighbors, she got them out of bed to call her parents😊. I can’t remember if we towed it home. I still have PTSD from that.

Weighed 260 senior year in HS. Lost 100, stabilized at 195-205, have kept it off for 45-50 years. Got off ***, ate more fruits and veggies, fewer donuts/cookies/chips, left hard liquor alone

239 currently. Down from about 320 a year and a half ago. Currently aiming for 220 but we'll see how I feel if and when I make it there.

I've been "husky" my entire life. I'm 67 years old... 5'11 ....currently weigh 178 lbs.

I have been dieting and exercising my entire life as well. My weight has gone up and down. At my worst I weighed 274. I have done Keto and lost weight but could not maintain it. I 've tried many other diets and exercise and lost and gained it back.

I am an Ozempic success story. About a year ago I was having trouble getting my A1C down below 9. My doctor asked if I would mind if he put me on Ozempic (I had no issues). My weight at that time was 228. Currently, I weigh 178... I have lost 50 pounds...I haven't weighed this since junior high and am in the best shape of my life. I've had no side effects...and I can eat whatever I want. I just can't eat a lot of whatever I want.

I do have a couple buddies who tried semaglutide and had horrible side effect and stopped. SO I feel extremely lucky about the results I have. My wife is extremely happy about it as well. I would definitely recommend trying it out.

Congrats on the results.

I am fortunate that the medicine/shot that I am using has caused very little side effects after almost a year of taking it. I am my college weight.

My friend is doing a different drug and he feels extremely lethargic for 2-3 days after his weekly shot. I think I’d rather be fat than not feeling well for 3/7 days of the week
