You have to be ready to run the ball in November, you never know what IL weather is coming next month. LWE was unstoppable in 2018 too, then it snowed during the semifinal....now I have no intel on that game they lost to LA but I can't think the weather helped.
The best player was injured.

They benefited big time when North closed.
Sure it did, it was nice to see them come home. There wasn’t enough growth to support the north . The school should never have been built. This was old news move on.

There was enough growth to get it approved to build in the first place and they had a great football staff in place.

They were very good before the North students came over. Coach Z and his staff are top notch. 1 title, 1 second place. After the closing 2 titles and 2 second place finishes. Clearly it has helped a lot. This is not a knock on them, just reality.

LWE vs. Naper Central prediction... here we go. Naperville Central is senior dominated with several three year starters. They are solid on offense but the defense is really good. Best defense that LWE will face during regular season. Two blowout wins against weak opponents and five competitive games (all wins) over decent to above average teams. LWE offense is more explosive this year along with an always good defense. The Griffins have not faced a top 20 ROC team this year. Maine South is down a bit this year, Stagg very weak, HF all offense and no defense, Neuqua really down this year, Lockport down, Andrew with a super weak schedule to get to five wins. Naper North the best opponent to date with loads of offensive talent. NC barely got past my Huskies but LWE exploded by us in the 2nd half for the lopsided win. So... IMHO the Redhawk defense will keep things close in the first half, perhaps 14-3 LWE at halftime. Will pull away in the 2nd half with a final score of 28-10. If NC doesn't bring their A game and turns the ball over, I could see 35-10.

Would love to have seen North stay open and Czart make a run. That guy can flat out coach 💪

The above may be a bit harsh since a road win over at-the-time 5-1 Sandburg is included. Now I know the "bloom has come off the rose" for Sandburg, but they still hold 2 road wins over LWW & LWC who are both 5-3, wins over another 5-3 plus a 4-4, then the 10-pt. loss to Rita. Sandburg at Naperville North this Friday should be an interesting result.

McEvergreen …he is still coaching at his Original school - Lockport ..and had a recent title there as well when he was an assistant for two other champs at LP. Zvonar appears to be a step above however.

I believe this historical district school closing has been beaten to death on this site. Coach Zvonar has built a public school program that was supported by some very loyal coaches and beyond in the LW District.
Knock on Coach Czart, and only one I can think of was overuse of his talented players. George Czart came over to LWN from a stout Lockport program and was a valued assistant. Coach Czart had the helm at LWN and returned to Lockport to do the same…leading to a recent title in 8A. I believe he has also found it to be a challenge to maintain that high level of success.
The talk of transfers and all to LWE is nice for y’all ,but remember the current QB at Marist was slated to be the QB1 this year for the Griffins and the staff at LWE develops players from experience of doing, all from kids in community programs at the lower levels. Next task will be to keep it rolling after Z moves on. Just some thoughts and enjoying the moment at LWE.

Not harsh at all... Andrew beat Thornwood (2-6), Metea Valley (1-7), Hammond (1-7), DeKalb (0-8), and finish with Neuqua (2-6). Only quality win was against Sandburg. Sandburg is a good team, should be a shootout with NN.

I will add that the year coach Czart won the state championship at Lockport a very young LWE team still beat them and I believe it was at Lockport. Czart is a good coach but what coach Z has built is at another level.

Corey can you just leave a compliment alone to another school without having to bring up LWE? Who cares that LWE beat Lockport that year? They won state, just leave it alone. Nobody was comparing George to Z either in this conversation. Not everything is about East.

Should be a great game. A lot of great games this week. Not sure why so many tough games are happening in week 9. I guess it gets everyone ready for the playoffs.
ESL vs IMG
MC vs LA
Warren vs Libertyville
Kankekee vs Crete
Among a ton of others. Should be a great night of high school football. 🏈

Great question there, and probably needs and will be its own thread at some point, but who takes over for Coach Z? I mean who would want to follow that? Doesn’t matter if it’s in-house or out of district! Usually doesn’t work out for coaches at any level who follow a GOAT type coach.

Wow 😳 Giving kudos to Coach Czart and some people get all defensive. Nobody was comparing C to Z. Maybe some of you LWE guys can ask Z sometime what HE thinks about Coach Czart?

I believe that has been done a number of years ago McEvergreen. Czart not getting the LWC job after North closed was not a good decision, however they all had to reapply for coaching positions in district at that time. No shade on Czart from this LWE fan!
