After watching Missouri

Missouri will have a lopsided advantage in free throwing shooting. Tigers have made 56 of their last 57 free throws including FIFTY FOUR IN A ROW, an NCAA record! If WVU misses 10 to 20 free throws that could be a 10 to 20-point difference. If the refs get whistle-happy it could be even worse.

Missouri has good quickness with their guards in drives to the basket.

Missouri doesn't handle 2-man traps on the sidelines very well. Pitbull Defense could thrive there.

Only ONE Missouri big has the height and bulk of all THREE Mountaineer bigs, even their one bulky big is more like Routt than our other 3 bigs.

Missouri has a losing conference record in the SEC, which is inferior to the Big 12, the Big 10 and the ACC in basketball.

Still, Missouri got off a shot at the end that would have beaten Texas A&M, another middling SEC team, so they are scrappy, but nowhere near as fierce as Huggins Heroes.

WVU has far better talent. Just like the Mountaineers had against Kansas State. It's not which team is better, as we found out. It's which team plays better.

If WVU has a Texas Tech or Texas performance then Missouri will get blown off the court like Texas Tech and Texas. If the Mountaineers put on a Kansas State performance and the refs are calling the fouls tight and frequently with a team that doesn't miss its free throws, it could get uncomfortable and interesting.

That's what we like about college football, right, the unpredictability?

By the way, the Missouri arena was so empty that I thought I was watching a Pitt football home game, particularly since their seats are the same gold (or yellow) colors. So a raucous WVU Coliseum crowd of 11,000 or more would help Huggins Heroes' cause.

Just sayin'.

I can't wait for Saturday at noon!!!

I felt the same way about the empty seats in their arena. We may not have the requisite number of tv households to attract an offer from a "better" conference but I'll say this...at least our fans support our teams.

Is Missouri going to shoot 57 in the game? No. How will Missouri feel about WVU out rebounding Mizzu by 35. Putting 35 points back in the bucket.

They are a SEC team now.
You can tell by their basketball games
Couldn't agree with you more. But I also know you can't let a bad team sneak up on you if you just mail in the game. Kansas State was a disturbing reminder of that. WVU is by far a better team than Missouri. But Huggins Heroes have to perform far better than Missour! This season, in particular, when SEVEN teams have been ranked #1, is a scary reminder. Every gam takes on a life of its own. The Pitbull Defense needs a Texas Tech or Texas performance, not a Kansas State debacle. I'm sure Huggins is making that clear to his charges. If they do, then Huggins will catch the legend, Adolph Rupp, in coaching victories! What an astounding event that will be! Light up the couches!!!

Free Throw Percentage West Virginia .640

WVU has attempted 442 FT 100 plus more than any conference member.
WVU has made 283 FT #1 in Big 12. This is what's helping WVU still win while shooting poorly at the line.

We should take care of business Saturday but I thought we’d take care of Kansas State too. If we play like we did in the last game we will win by double digits.

Good stats. I missed that. Fits along the same line was WVU's FG percentage not being a true measure. If they take 3 shots on a possession because they get the rebounds every time then it counts the same as a team taking one shot and making it. It's not how many free throws you miss, which disturbs fans like me, but how many you make that count in the final score.

Granted if your not getting those other 2 then foul shots will come into play and we need to hit them.
