Has it ever been determined how many seats would be lost at Rupp if chairbacks were actually put in the upper arena? USC holds 18K and they did a good job in that configuration.

I didn't think there was a bad seat in the house, and I was10 rows from the top Saturday.

I wouldn't be surprised though that it would impact 3-4K fans if the benches were removed.

The mayor's remodel last year had all seatbacks and the same capacity but was completely nixed by Eli.

I posted about this on the football board regarding CWS the other day. Seats can be made at varying sizes and with no armrests/dividers to leave same space left to right. I did a quick google search and saw a couple of recent examples: Yankee Stadium has seatbacks ranging from 19-24" wide and Arlington Stadium where Texas Rangers play has seatbacks that range from 18-22" wide. There would be some lower leg room lost (decent elevation change from row to row up there at Rupp) depending on how thick the backs were.
