We are not that far off, line needs to gel and I believe they will get better each game. Need to find a rb but everywhere else I think we will end up making some noise. Looking at the depth chart makes me think next year we might be pretty dang good. I know we lose dak but if Fitz or Staley are what we think they are we should be ok there

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't mind seeing Dak throw 35-45 times a game. Because, I'm afraid until we A) change backs, B) Dak starts carrying the ball more; our running game is going to be average at best no matter the OL play.

Unfortunately next year is the Even # Year. Now every even number year we have to play our tough opponents on the road, at LSU, at Bama, and at Ole Miss.

MSU used to have our schedule set up to have a awesome final game each year, on odd number years we would play the Egg Bowl at home and on even numbered years we would finish our home slate against Bama. But for some reason the dead Indians decided that we should have to play SEC opponents on the road in back-to-back years. 1991 at LSU and 1992 at LSU. 2001 at Bama and 2002 at Bama. Hell, we even had to play 2011 at Kentucky and then 2012 at Kentucky! Now we are supposedly an SEC team, a charter member no less---other SEC teams don't have to deal with this crap. If Alabama had to play in Starkville in BACK TO BACK YEARS they would riot, burn their own trailer parks to the ground, and start a wave of human cannibalism. I mean this year or schedule is awesome with Bama and the Egg Bowl at home but just think our home schedule crescendo last year was Vanderbilt, sorry I can't get into beating Vandy it is like beating up Stephen Hawking he is really smart and really easy to beat up---just like Vandy.

Yeah there was a few times dak should have kept the ball, probably about 5 times. Just a few plays here and there and we will be fine. I feel like the line will end up being pretty good. Hopefully lsu is a great team and we can make a run, beat auburn, Texas am, kentucky, and of course that team up north. I believe Bama has the best defensive line so I don't know how they will be
Dak can't carry it more until defences respect the non-Dak running game or we implement bootlegs into the playbook. I don't know if that's on the o-line or, Shump or, Mullen.
Caveat, I love the bootleg (naked or not) because of my Broncos' with Elway. Walley (sp?) reminds me of Ed McCaffrey. Dak's much more mobile than Elway was during those back to back SB wins.

All other SEC teams had to do the exact same thing those years against different opponents, due to changes to the schedule created by either conference realignment or changes to to number of permanent opponents in the opposite division. Each team also got either a home game against the same team 2 years in a row, or a home game that did not have to be returned with a road trip. For instance, MSU played South Carolina at home in 2011 and did not have to play them on the road in 2012. The road game was replaced with a trip to Kentucky, and the previously scheduled home game against Kentucky was replaced with a home game against A&M.
The occurrences you mention are related to the conference expansion in the early 90's to add Arkansas and South Carolina, changing from 2 permanent / 1 rotating opponent to 1 permanent / 2 rotating opposite division opponents in the early 2000's, and the expansion that added A&M and Mizzou in 2012. All 3 of those were major changes in which it was impossible to keep the current scheduled games as-is, so all teams saw a temporary shift to correct it. There was no grand conspiracy by dead indians or the SEC to give us the shaft.
Just my opinion, but we really need to be building on what we did last season. I feel like we have enough to do so, and you saw that in this game. 5 yards and a missed field goal away from victory, after having what I think was one of the worst game plans I have ever seen. Mullen is going to have to get Dak on the move again, rolling out, scrambling, etc. We need to win football games for the good of this program, not improve our Quarterbacks draft stock. I hope this 50 passes per game thing changes quickly, or its potentially going to be a frustrating season.

Did State have 4 home SEC games and 4 away SEC games any of those years? I don't know what you're crying about. Every time a back-2-back is scheduled, it takes a back-2-back to balance the schedule. In the most recent expansion, TSUN went to Bama in 2012 & 2013. Since State's back-2-back was tied to an eastern opponent, it didn't happen.
