Officiating didn't win the game for Bama. Mississippi State played a very respectable game tonight. However, certain officiating calls lent credence to the conspiracy theory James Carville accused of the SEC office for pro-Alabama officiating. I thought he was just an LSU homer crying in his beer. Now, I'm not sure James doesn't have something there.
The Alabama fumble that wasn't reviewed might be a mistake. The phantom block in the back call to preserve a "shut out" for Alabama deserves a serious investigation. James Carville knows something about party politics. Is this SEC politics to insure Alabama is the far-and-away number one choice for the playoff? If so, that could open a door for several SEC teams with one loss to get in the playoff. Two SEC teams = more SEC money.
