here are a few thoughts after rewatching the game when I returned home.

- I was at the game and the Hawk faithful gave it their all.

- Special teams let us down again. Three missed field goals from the left hash in consecutive weeks. Not to mention a punt nearly blocked.

- Defense played well overall but our secondary is below Iowa's standard. Lee has let us down a lot. Too many missed tackles by our LBers.

- When we rush for under 100 yards, we generally lose. Johnson was a difference maker last year. Mouton gets very few yards after contact. They played to stop our run game, specifically Gronowski, and they did.

It was a long drive back to Ohio. I was lower than a snakes belly.

Oh, one more point. Why did the refs not throw a flag, for what happened to X on the Indiana bench? I saw three Indiana players knock him down. He made a clean shot on their QB.

On to Wisconsin. Will be back for Penn State in two weeks. Go Hawks!

I've been through a lot of games against ranked teams over the years that Iowa lost but should have won. Indiana is just the latest, but it still hurts. I mean this team, despite its shortcomings, should be 5-0. It beat itself vs. both ISU and Indiana, and that's what's so deeply disappointing. So many chances in each game. So close . . .

Hawks gave it all. We gave them points and missed opportunities. Can't fault the coaches. Great game but wrong team won. Injuries are pilling up hope there is some gas in the tank. Wisky to me is a must game to get to a bowl game. Go Hawks.

Fair assessment.

Iowa’s offense…particularly the passing offense…has definitely shown improvement. It’s not yet at the point where it can overcome mistakes by the defense or special teams. I am hoping the offense CAN reach that point in the future with a decent QB who will be a multi-year starter.

The game was there for the taking. Iowa has no margin for error when facing good teams. Unfortunately the errors occurred at crucial times. I think these will get cleaned up going forward.

Agreed. The X thing was strange, seems like he was totally harassed.

Cig right after this looked absolutely insane talking to the rels.

The D rocked. Indiana is gonna score a ton of points this year. Will be interesting to see how much they put up on PSU and Oregon.

I agree about the sideline pounding of X and I mentioned it at the time. That was totally unsportsmanlike conduct after the whistle which should have been marked back from the resulting 4th and 1 to a 4th and 16.

I cant remember but we might have stuffed them on that 4th and 1. Cant remember

This team doesn’t have any Kaleb Johnson’s or Charlie Jones, guys that single handily won Iowa football games they had no business winning. We need to be better than the teams we play and not just ask Kaleb to take a swing pass 75 yards for a touchdown like against Nebraska.

No. It shouldn't be 5-0. You are what your record says you are and the record reflects a team that can't score points against decent defenses. They scored 26 points in those 2 games combined. That's why they're 3-2 and not 5-0.

Disagree. Wetjen is a difference maker on returns.

You go where your job takes you- especially when you've got mouths to feed in addition to your own.
Actually you go where the granddaughters live. Built our retirement home on a lake in South Carolina but then our daughter got married and had two beautiful little girls. Things change in life.

That punt was blocked and Iowa was really lucky to get the yardage out of it that they did. Ended up being nearly 30 or so yards I think.

Oregon is gonna put out his little flame.
I’m insta-betting Oregon in that one.

Not only is the level of athleticism different, Lanning is an absolute psycho. He will treat this game like when they played Colorado last year. He wanted to humiliate Deion.

Indiana is a good team, but Oregon is gonna light them up.

Howard makes one of the better catches for Iowa in a long time against Rutgers and does not even sniff a throw his way, D was good enough but offense is still dog crap

Yep. Lost 2 games against top 15 teams in the final minutes but the doom and gloom fans think we're terrible. This board gets hard to read with all of the haters who think Iowa should be playing for a natty every year.

Nobody here hates Iowa (except the Clone and Husker fans). I wish people would stop using the word “hater” for anyone who offers a criticism. It’s so ridiculous and dumb.

And there is no one here who expects them to play for a national championship every year. Good grief.

Husker fans do not hate the iowa football program, it’s the ignorant, delusional iowa fan base we despise. Lucky for you iowa fans are very tame and respectful in person unless at kinnick stadium.

No shat. 99% of us don't believe that Iowa will ever play in a National Championship game in our lifetime. There is really only one middling program in the Big10 with a delusional fanbase who believes this and we all know who that is.

When you say doom and gloom fans, are you referring to all of the fans acknowledging that little appears to have changed this year? The offense which was supposed to take a big step forward this year is producing the same results as last year and the passing game is still one of the worst in cfb. They already have 2 games of 13 points under their belts. The reality of the situation is that the Iowa offense will struggle mightily to put up more than 20 points against any remaining team on the schedule not named Michigan St which means we're looking at another season of Iowa losing a lot of 21-13 and 17-16 games for the balance of the year and Iowa fans complaining that the defense is losing games. Wash, rinse, repeat.
