Rumor has been floating around that he had flu-like symptoms all last week.
Obviously cannot confirm but I did wonder during the game whether he was injured.

I find it interesting that in all of the interviews with players and coaches including Adrian himself, nothing was said. He took full responsibility for his play and letting down his teammates. Don't you think that someone would have at least mentioned, hey AM wan't full speed with those flu symptoms (whatever that is, either you have the flu or you don't). In a group like that, there would likely be more than one person with the flu was well.

very well could've been food poisoning. That's flu like.. I think he just played like **** and wants to own up to it though. He'll bounce back.

That’s an easy one and I’d actually respect it if that’s what happened (not saying it did or didn’t)....but if Martinez was sick and he didn’t use it as an excuse and then comes out and says “It’s my fault, the team deserves more of me...better of me”. He’s not making excuses (even if he’s sick) and just saying the team deserves more from him. That says a lot about the young man. But who knows???

I agree with this to a point... for AM to say I played like crap because I felt like crap would have been seen as an excuse a leader wouldn’t make.

On the other hand, if he was sick, why wouldn’t Frost come out this week and say he wasn’t himself because he had been sick?

Maybe he was sick, maybe not... either way, I hope he is back to normal this coming Saturday.

I know there has a been a lot of fever and viral symptoms going around. My high school son had it last week and the pediatrician in Lincoln said he's seen quite a bit of it.

I heard a rumor that he had contagious conjunctivitis and necrotizing fasciitis. Plus he was battling a minor episode of schizophrenia and some turf toe.

That, or he just didn't have a good game.

Michael Jordan once had 38 pts, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in a decisive NBA playoff game, all while having the flu. No excuses

The ol' brown bottle flu maybe

No, it’s pretty well-documented.

Was hospitalized the night before with a fever of 105 & had to receive IV’s before, during & after the game.

Dan Patrick still talks about it on his show all the time. He was in the locker room & says MJ was as sick as he has ever seen an athlete.

And he didn’t use illness as an excuse. Did he?!?!? He came out (didn’t even mention being sick) and said the team deserves better of him....period.

I’ll say this though, playing basketball and playing football is two different sports. It’s not even close to the same physically...and if you’re truly sick....playing football would be harder then playing basketball and toughing threw the game. Just saying...

He wouldn't mention it, nor would Frost, because it isn't a valid excuse, it's just how it goes. Like getting your ankle rolled up on. Sucks, makes it harder to play, but it is what it is.

i think i could play until i pooped my pants.

I have a friend who's dad played in the NFL and he said he pooped his pants during a game once because he had the flu. He went to the locker room and changed.

Football plays average out about 5 seconds per play. Basketball would be significantly more harsh and dangerous because you are constantly running and moving around. Basketball players actually sweat. Football players sweat just not close to what basketball players do.

If he was sick, it would have been part of the presser. Just like the truth about practice last week. Not one mention of a bad week of practice until after the poor play in the game. Then it comes out that practice wasn’t sharp and people struggled all week.

Who knows. Maybe he wasn’t feeling 100%. Looking back he didn’t have the same enthusiasm or look in the pocket. And close ups on TV he does look a little peaked. Not saying he actually was sick, but one way or another something was off because he never looked comfortable in he pocket, throwing, making reads, in the huddle, etc.

I covered college football in Florida. Football players sweat there just standing around.

After I heard that and immediately thought back to one of Frost’s fall camp pressers. He mentioned about 3 weeks ago that he always expects a bit of a let down and some sloppy practices about mid-way through fall camp, but he never saw it. I was wondering when he said that if our fall camp let down happened to coincide with week one prep. If so, glad that’s over and half we were able to get a win regardless.

Well, except for the fact that at Thursdays presser he stated right off the bat he wasnt as happy with tuesday and wednesday practice. He attributed it to classes starting

Pretty sure I heard before the game that practice hadn't gone that well. Think frost might have mentioned it in the pregame sideline interview.

As discussed above, bad practice was mentioned. And, don’t you think conveying that your QB had been sick all week might not be the best idea leading up to game day?

If I remember correctly Tom never said anything about the players having the flu for the 96 big 12 championship game, nothing was said until I believe Charlie McBride mentioned it about 10 days later, they didn’t want to use the flu for a excuse. I also remember Tom talking on the coaches show after the loss to penn st in 82 and his comments were we didn’t practice well the past week.

I don’t think he was sick. I think that is revisionist nonsense from koolaid drinkers. He played like crap pure and simple. Then, after the game we get the usual “athlete speak” where he says he let the team down but will do better.

And personally, I find it highly annoying for Frost to tell us he had a bad week of practice. So why did he not say that last week? Why the endless drivel coming out of Fall camp about how improved we were at every position? Why the constant lies and sunshine pumping? Our offensive line played like absolute dogshit against a very, very, very bad football team. Did they have a bad week of practice too?

I still think we will have a great season. I think we will beat CU handily.

But I wish the players and coaches would just shut their f&cking pie holes and cut the crap. Make your statement on the field of play or stfu.

I recall Coach Frost saying that practice was “better” on Thursday kind of implying that Monday through Wednesday were not up to par. I’ll look it up and link it when I’ve got some time this evening (I’m on the West coast).

I would love for this to be true so there is a legit reason for him to play so badly. I have a feeling if it were true, it would have came out. There is no reason for them to hide it.

I think that is a bit of an overreaction on everything.
