Can Adrian Martinez be as good or better than Trevor Lawrence, Tua T, Kyler Murray? We’ll see next yr if Adrian can take NU to the next level.
We won't know unless he has the supporting cast around him like these other teams have. My goodness, we have so far to go. Clemson, Bama, and OU just plug in new players when one goes down or leaves. Didn't OU get down to their 5th string RB this because if injuries?
Plugging in players works a lot better when you have been running the same core offensive and defensive systems for at least 5+ years.
Systems are a little overrated. You still have to run, block.and tackle. Obviously, there is a difference between a power and and the spread but basic football is football. Clemson and Bama are loaded with studs.
I'll agree that systems are overrated. But running the same core system for multiple years is under rated. A lot easier to block and tackle when you just know what you are supposed to do and aren't thinking about what you are supposed to be doing. "When you know without knowing, only then can you be the master."
He said his view on defense was to hold teams to around 28 pts?I love Frost but I think his view on defense (lets try to hold a team to around 28 points) is flawed. Defense still wins championships.
That is the run isn't it? It isn't so much what you are "supposed to do" it is what you do to adapt to what the other team is doing. It is like a big chess match. You still have to have the studs to do the basic things, they don't change.

Regardless, black shirts will be back in two to three years.
No, that is not the rub!!!!!!!!!!! It is exactly what you are supposed to do and knowing what you are supposed to do without thinking about it (the core). The adaptation to what the opponent is doing is the 10% deviation from the core and that is only possible if you can do the core without thinking. The core has to be as natural as breathing.
Sorry, but coaching has taught me differently. Teach the basic techniques, each week and each play you get a different look. You are constantly thinking and communication, there is nothing stagnant. QB's a D WR's commumicate with eye contact, linen make calls to change blocking, there is constant change and adaptation to what your opponent is doing.
How does NU load up on studs? If you don’t have those studs how we can start to win the Big Ten and maybe college football playoffs. I heard of experts say we’re at a geographical disadvantage with so many top rated recruits (high 4 & 5 stars players) that won’t come here.Systems are a little overrated. Argue, but prove my point.
Sheesh, there is a huge difference between what you originally said and what I said. You said "the same core offense and defense" which translates to plays and intent. How do you explain a kid that goes from a HS system to a college system to a pro system which are all different but the succeed in each?

Instead of asking for the moon and heisman trophy right off the bat, let's start with a winning season, and maybe a division championship first. With hard work and mental toughness, those things are indeed attainable. Can Adrian Martinez be as good or better than Trevor Lawrence, Tua T, Kyler Murray?
