The best 2 moves made were McConnell over Mathis and getting Harper to play inside the 3 point line and around the key.

1. Mathis has looked awful the last few games. He's been forcing things, playing out of control and he's had a bad attitude. He needs a few games off the bench to settle down a bit and get back to the form he had earlier this year. McConnell has slowly been settling in, has played under control and his length has helped us both on offense and defense.

2. Harper finally played aggressive from tip off. He want down into the lane early and had a lot of post up shots that he hadn't been taking ina good 5-6 games. Pike needs to keep him involved inside the 3 point line moving forward. He can continue shoot the 3 but he's a menace inside and he can't disappear in random games by camping out beyond the 3.

3. Mulcahy starting was a good move. He was a vocal leader and started sinking his 3s (as ugly as his shot is). I still like Jacob Young on the court but he did well off the bench and may need a game or two off the bench to heal up and not be the focus for opposing teams.

4. Omoruyi needs work. He's got great length but he lacks spacial awareness sometimes. That will come with time. He also needs to be stronger in boxing out and going up for dunks. There were a few times he missed easy shots because he tried to float a layup instead of stuffing it in and on the defensive end he did not do well fighting for position. He needs to command the area around him.

Great win but we can't let this be a one off. We're in the outside looking in for a tournament bid. By my count we are -3 based on our schedule. We lost 2 OSU games and a PSU game which we should not have. So we have to make those up v some of the ranked teams on our schedule and MSU is a must win.

Pike pushed the right buttons today. What was evident from the start was the energy that we had been used to 5 games ago. Who knows if it means we have turned the corner but it worked today and got them back playing like we all know they can. Going forward, we will need Mathis and Young to be as engaged as they can be since Harper, Mulcahy, and Geo can’t play 36+ minutes each like they did today (nor would I want them to), but I really do like both of them coming off the bench. I still like Cliff starting instead of Johnson but I certainly can’t argue with what we saw today.

I like the speed & energy he brings(when playing under control). I think it is a great lift off the bench.

I also liked that Pike stuck with the starting lineup for more than the 4 minutes mark I think he only substitute Cliff for Myles in the first 10 minutes

I felt the number one difference right from the tap was ball movement. It led to open shots and contributed to the defensive energy as well. The team looked different right from the start.

At one point I thought I heard someone on the bench telling them to move on O - I would assume it’s been a focus.

I don't believe we are. Maybe the NIT. We are 9th in the B10 and I don't see 9 B10 teams making the tournament.
Net rankings would say we're in. We've played more quad 1 games than anyone (9), in the BIG and won 4 of them, 2 on the road. We also split a pair of quad 2 games.

We have to get to 10 wins and every game is important. We have plenty of games left but I sure would like to take that smile off of Izzo's face.

You don't want to rely on a late season run to get in. It would be extremely helpful to win tomorrow.
