Why would we want to opt out? Screw Phil Knight and his Oregon money and UA and their clown outfits. 3 stripe life is where its at!!

In all fairness the only clown outfits UA really has is Maryland because the owner went to Maryland and they have that guffy state flag design.

Own stock in UA and have done very well with over the years and has spit on 2 occasions despite the drop earlier this year.Never have been a Nike fan.
I also have no problem and never had a problem with adidas and glad we landed a sweet deal.

Hope we use the income to keep improving our football facilities.

5 years ago I would not have been thrilled with this news. However, a lot has changed since then. Adidas has poached a lot of top designers from Nike and Under Armour, their product has improved by leaps and bounds and they are backing up a truck full of money to North Stadium. Where do we sign?
I was in the same boat as you 5 years ago. I wanted our program to change it up. Little did we know that in the grand scheme of things a brand can help in recruiting but it doesn't account for how good of a recruiter the head coach is.

Nike may have been the king at one time, but I believe their clothes are cheaply made and look cheap. I wear mostly Adidas sport clothes. No Nike at all. I look like a walking billboard for Adidas on the golf course. Adidas has some really cool shoes too. Another reason not to buy Nike. You are only supporting Oregon every time you buy Nike products. It just gives Phil Knight more money to spend on his Ducks.

I personally own zero Nike gear, save one gym bag that smells like cat piss in my garage. The last pair I bought about 15 years ago started falling apart the first time I wore them, and I finally decided to stop being an overpriced label wh8re to the Swoosh. Said bye to Nike, and have mostly Adidas now.

That being said, I think at one time recruits valued Nike far ahead of other brands. As you correctly indicated, however, I think that perception has changed. Adidas is no longer Puma's slightly less ugly older sister. They have come a long way. The size of this deal only makes it better.

http://www.omaha.com/huskers/footba...7248d226-c6c0-5005-9bf6-28672c461172.htmlwith a massive agreement in hand and the full Big Ten share of money coming in — published reports suggest north of $50 million per team per year — Nebraska athletics has more money to spend. Asked what fan feedback he’s received on how NU will spend it, Eichorst said: “If I need a fan to come tell me what we need to be successful, I don’t know if I’m doing my job.”

Nebraska is raking in the cash and now dishing more if it than ever back to the general university fund and people still are after the ADs head.

Only thing Eichorst has done wrong is not firing Pelini a year earlier after his Iowa tantrum. Also, should have fired Miles this year. Everything else..,he's doing great work.

It's a pretty weak argument when you say a guy didn't fire someone soon enough. Believe me, I wanted Bo gone in 2010 but waiting for a few years has made it all the more enjoyable watching a true professional step in and right the ship. It didn't matter when he fired him, the roster still needed years to be reconstructed as you can't rebuild with just one class.

The AD is putting that Big Ten and Adidas money to use by enhancing and improving the facilities for non-revenue generating sports all while giving money back to the school. Not to mention the upgrades to Memorial Stadium that have happened and the ones that are coming.

KU just signed a bigger deal with Adidas than we did - $191 million! Eichorst got taken.

Louisville also recently signed a much bigger deal with Adidas than we did.

So...13.6 mil a year vs our $11.7 mil a year, and I'm assuming since they don't require nearly as much equipment for basketball, they are getting a boatload more dough than us. I guess it makes sense, since KU is currently very relevant in basketball.

Very relevant is an understatement to say the least... how about national power?!! Winking

Actually, I think we made out pretty well for having a horrible basketball program and a football program that is currently struggling. Louisville does well in both.

Michigan signed for less than us when they are nationally relevant in both as well.

This is also a is there is an opt out in year 4 (or whatever year). We will renegotiate sooner than year 7 years.

Granted this is a couple years old, but our merchandise sales (13th nationally) are quite a bit higher than either Kansas (21st) or Louisville (24th). And this data was from the year after Louisville won a National Championship in basketball. I would have expected a lawyer like Eichorst to negotiate a better deal.

I was really hoping for Skechers to come in with a superior bid. I thought this brand would have helped our signal callers the last few years. Maybe our quarterbacks can look stylish in 4 years. Winking

From a runner's perspective, Skechers Performance Line are actually a really good shoe...their midsole foam is as good (if not better) than all the big dogs (Nike, Asics, Saucony, New Balance, etc...)
