I prefer the white stripes on the sleeves (which is why I said "a little worse") and, as far as things I don't like about this (and last year's) uniform would include the font on the numbers, no stripe on the pants, and no white on the collar.

In the future, RU may want to consider approaching Fanatics about an outfitter contract. Because of its connections to pro sports team owners, Fanatics is eventually going to replace Nike, UA and adidas in a lot of settings (currently lots of pro-licensed merchandise branded Nike and UA is actually manufactured by Fanatics in their own facility) . I imagine becoming the first Fanatics school could be quite beneficial.

Have you never shopped and off-brand that you know was manufactured by the same place as the name brand? I forget what it was exactly.. but I think it was when I was a kid and knew a guy who worked at Sears and he told me that the Sears brand of something was made by the same company as some expensive brand. The concept was new to me way back when... but why shouldn't Fanatics own the facility in Vietnam or wherever that makes the name-brand stuff?

I saw that. However Fanatics makes the replica stuff. That is my take on what he said above. You and I generally cannot buy the real merchandise. I doubt Nike/Adidas/UA would outsource those items just from a quality control/brand perspective.

Yeah.. but it would just be a brand, right? The people making the pro stuff likely don't make any other items. it is like a completely different company that slaps teh Nike/UA etc brand on it afterward.

So why not slap a "Fanatics" brand on it too? Love more competition in the uniform marketplace.. even if it is only over changing the branding and designs. What I'd love most is NO BRAND. Just contract directly with the manufacturer. Sure it costs money.. but how much?

The 2017 Adidas contract granted "$100,000 in cash for the purposes of marketing in Year 1 and each year after that will receive $75,000 annually".. that had to be spent on brand marketing including teh Rutgers and Adidas logos. Who cares about that? Did we actually get $100,000 in value a year from that? n Every TV broadcast and photo taken dwarfs the impact of such a brand campaign.

What else? "a $300,000 sign-on bonus to use toward apparel"... and "wholesale-pricing discounts on its entire line of products, including 50 percent off apparel and accessories, 45 percent off retail pricing for footwear. 50 percent off retail pricing for My Team apparel, and 30 percent retailing pricing on My Team footwear."

I have no idea what that is all worth... but I'd suspect that if you contracted directly with manufacturers you could match those benefits and not pay the "name brand" tax. That is, Adidas doesn't lose money on that deal... they are walling in a customer and still making some money off them.

Of course, Adidas has uniform designers and works well with their manufacturers.. same for Nike etc. That would be hard to match independently.. but not impossible. And you wouldn't lock into one brand. They could sell fan gear across brands working deals based on that aspect alone.

You are forgetting that outside of Nike and Adidas (and Nike is way above Adidas), all the other brands just don't have any stain. We would be at a recruiting/culture disadvantage. No one even wants UA or New Balance uniforms at this point. What ever happened to Russell, SB and Champion? Fanatics would need years to build their brand.

Champion was always my favorite. Once Notre Dame stopped wearing them that was pretty much the end of their brand. I wish they would come back.

Champion stuff was insane. We used to wear "greys" under our pads. I don't wear them now obviously but I did long after I gradated and still have them boxed up somewhere. Those things lasted forever. Crap now is basically disposable.
