Even though he had made public comments confirming his commitment to us I was a little nervous he never posted anything on his socials but I worry no longer!!!

paul wears 4Still seems so surreal. Do all recruits take pics in jerseys with the captain C on them?

Richie says he’s probably a 1 and done!!And he's also committing to playing four years for RU!
Hope he’s good enough to make this happen! Would be a win win for both sidesRichie says he’s probably a 1 and done!!
So does Bailey. Players take pictures in their own numberpaul wears 4
Ace is 6’-10” and can play all 5 positions on both ends of the court, inside and outside. Have never seen a player with his size, quickness and skill sets.Richie says he’s probably a 1 and done!!
Maybe the "C" stands for CommittedDo all recruits take pics in jerseys with the captain C on them?
The handle coupled with all his attributes allows everything you see.Ace is 6’-10” and can play all 5 positions on both ends of the court, inside and outside. Have never seen a player with his size, quickness and skill sets.
Getting teammate PG Jamichael Davis to commit was key to getting Ace to join RU. Kudos to Pike for getting it done with both recruiting and game day coaching.
Future is so bright that RU fans got to wear shades!
FYP.The handle coupled with all his attributes allows everything you see.
IMO.
Captain Airious I’m sure
Lol zero chance of that. And he's also committing to playing four years for RU!
The true one and dones have ability to take their teams very deep into March. Hope that is the case here. One and done talent. Shocked if he stayed for more than a year.
They can add him to the coaching staff if he wants as long as he comes hereStill seems so surreal. Do all recruits take pics in jerseys with the captain C on them?
Would be huge, getting a guy straight into the association. For those doubting the impact of a 1 year player look no further than Yeboah.Hope he’s good enough to make this happen! Would be a win win for both sides
This is mostly true and reflects reality today. Coach K even realized eventually that the Laettners and Hurleys of the world aren’t going to win it all. And Grant Hill actually stayed four years at Duke and became a great three point shooter by his senior year…before becoming the third overall pick in the draft.Once you start getting one and done talent and they go to 10 or better, you arrived and it continues. To be elite, you need to consistently have one and done guys coming in.
Yeah, the early 90’s had a bunch of three year college players get drafted like Shaq (3 yrs at LSU) (Chris Webber only played two seasons at Michigan which was rare thing to do then) but the Duke guys stayed for four. First big name Duke guy to leave early was Elton Brand who played two years at Duke before becoming the top NBA pick.Different era, you didn't have many 1 and done 30 years ago. Before KG and Kobe came out of HS, most players would spend atleast a few years in college. Now everyone gets drafted on potential, even if they were a highly rated freshman who didn't play half the year.
It is kind of why watching our current team the past few years has been so much fun. Having majority of our starters stay and grow with this program and bring it to success.Yeah, the early 90’s had a bunch of three year college players get drafted like Shaq (3 yrs at LSU) (Chris Webber only played two seasons at Michigan which was rare thing to do then) but the Duke guys stayed for four. There are 15-20 one and dones each draft the last few years. Few of them take their teams deep into March. The true one and dones have ability to take their teams very deep into March. Hope that is the case here.
Don’t tempt me to start one right now!We are so close to getting to a spot where we can complain kids are jetting to nba too quckly, and not giving Pike enough time to develop them and the team. And then we can start threads where we should recruit more under radar 3 stars.
Imagine Pike coaching a team that scores 75-80 points/game?We are so close to getting to a spot where we can complain kids are jetting to nba too quckly, and not giving Pike enough time to develop them and the team. And then we can start threads where we should recruit more under radar 3 stars.
I think poster's point was that Paul wears the C. Assuming Baily was the 4 was a bit obvious. So does Bailey. Players take pictures in their own number
And if you remember that draft, Duke also had Corey Maggette leave as a freshman and William Avery (who had a breakout year but wasn't reasy) another underclassman all go and we heard a much different tune from K. His family spoke about him being betrayed. Maggette has spoken about K not talking to him after. Different times. That 99 Duke team that lost to Uconn was a lot of fun to watch. Might be Ks only undefeated conference seasonYeah, the early 90’s had a bunch of three year college players get drafted like Shaq (3 yrs at LSU) (Chris Webber only played two seasons at Michigan which was rare thing to do then) but the Duke guys stayed for four. I get it. I’m getting greedy though and thinking we can match Kevin Durant’s one year run at Texas. There are 15-20 one and dones each draft the last few years. Few of them take their teams deep into March.
HS class of 2021 rankings - https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/awards/rsci-recruit-rankings-2021.html
Players ranked as high as Ace Bailey out of HS with his length, skills and athleticism get drafted in the first round even if they didn't help their college team much.
They lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament though.I get it. I’m getting greedy though and thinking we can match Kevin Durant’s one year run at Texas.
This is the challenge of trying to build the team around very young but highly gifted players who are not expected to be in the system long. They are away from home for the first time, may need some further physical development, and are playing with new players and a new system. This is why what Kentucky and Duke do is so difficult. Every season they will adapt their offense and defense to the players coming in, and will stick with them even when it isn’t going well because they don’t want to do anything to damage their draft status, and some seasons it never comes completely together at the end. If Dylan also commits, it is great for us, but it is also not without risks, and Pike will be judged by both how they play on the floor, but also whether he has helped or hurt these kids in the draft. There are 15-20 one and dones each draft the last few years. Few of them take their teams deep into March.
