I thank the committee!!Looks like we got a cup cake bracket again. OFC
UVA got a walk to the finals, wouldn't be shocked though if NC state beats them and makes the finals.
Really hope VT beats ND, we owe VT a BEAT-DOWN. Oh, and I never want to play against Colson again.
If we beat ND, UNC, then UVA...we are a 1-seed lock.
This could potentially be our 4th year in a row playing ND in the ACC tournament.
Playing Notre Dame doesn't bother me at all. Our defense is better now and they can't stop us on offense. Colson can't play with Bagley or Carter. He was going up against Amile and didn't have to work on defense. Now he will have to work on defense. We are better at every position
That's true but Bags and Carter will have to defend him beyond the 3-point line, which is why we've had to go to the zone. I don't know. He is a difference maker and just seem to have his best games against us.
That's the thing...we won't have big men defending him on the perimeter. It's harder to score inside against a zone UNLESS you're us. If he hit 5 3s then we just have to take our lick. I think we get him in foul trouble though
In theory, a player with the skill set that Colson has: a big that can shoot, pass, and score from anywhere, is the ideal piece to have against a matchup 2-3 zone. Play him at the foul line and it can really break a zone down.
Luckily Luke Maye had a off game last night, because like Colson, those types of players kill a zone. So yes, Colson scares the heck out of me with our zone, even though he looked yesterday like he is still getting his energy/strength back..wasn’t too great against UVA.
I mean we certainly have the talent. But they have intangibles that we don't and are desperate. We should beat them, but they are hungry for an NCAA Tournament bid with seniors looking to go out in the tournament one last time. Things don't always go according to plan in the ACC Tournament.
Fair. But looking at the bigger picture, our zone won't get killed by a bunch of small guards trying to rain three's against us. Joel Berry couldn't get a single good look last night, we are just too long and athletic for guards to do much on the perimeter against us.If he can consistently make that foul line jumper than more power to him. This isn't the year I see him putting up big numbers against us though. Different defensive scheme and different animals in the post. He will have to defend every time down. Like you said, his energy isn't back. He's not that good to beat us.

What scares me to death is a team with a bunch of great passers, UNC is a perfect example, we have double the talent of them, but they almost beat us on our home court because they can beat the zone by passing. Any team that can put a big man at the foul line, who can make any pass and consistently make a jumper is the only way our zone is getting beat.
Some players/teams that could kill us: Colson/ND, Wagner/Michigan, Ayton/Arizona (I really just want to avoid Zona all together), Bridges/MSU (no way Izzo makes the same zone mistakes he did against us in November.)
Teams with a great big man who can do it all is not a good matchup for us. Everyone else, we will slaughter.
Yes, sure. But all I am saying is ND has a golden-key that is required to beat our 2-3 zone. There are probably only 5 teams that have a player like this, which I referenced above, and UNC is another team with Maye. But UNC is a better passing and rebounding team than Notre Dame. Shooting is probably even. I wouldn't say they almost beat us last night either. We played terrible offensively in the first half. In the second half the score was 49 to 29 after we stepped up on offense. The defense stayed solid throughout. Arizona can only beat Pac 12 teams and we have Michigan State's number, Izzo just can't beat Coach K
