Looks like we get Pitt first and possibly Duke when we beat Pitt. Not bad, I consider those two winnable games but it will be interesting how Dan goes with the pitching. Its single elimination so can't take a loss.

Exactly; that (WF series loss) is just another example of coming up short in certain situations that could have provided this team an opportunity for advancement. There truly is a lot to like about this team, but too often the Walks, the HBPs and the Wild Pitches were predictably the difference between having a chance to win a series here or there.

I will of course watch or listen to every inning just like I have all season, and pull for these kids 100%, but there comes a time when objective analysis is necessary to understand what is going on.

We need to spread the blame around. Until yesterday, the offense had pretty much ghosted the rest of the team, going back to ND and Ga Tech series. Not the right time of the season to go slumping.
We better hope they woke up a bit yesterday because we pretty much know what we're getting from the pitching staff.

Would it surprise anyone if the Cards go winless in the postseason? I’m preparing for it.

actually X, I fear that will happen. Somehow this team just failed too many times when opportunities presented themselves. Sorry to be pessimistic at such an exciting time, but disappointment has that effect.

Anything can happen when you have a great hitting team that can steal a lot of bases, but that same team is -49 in walks, -6 in passed balls, and -52 in wild pitches.

I am expecting us to be good enough to go 2-3 in the postseason (including the ACCT) Anything less than that will be a disappointing ending, and anything more will be a pleasant surprise.

It will be great to be back in the NCAAT!

We need to throw our best in the Pitt game and if we win, throw our best available vs. Duke. Get those 2 wins, then losing next game against a quality opponent won't hurt too bad.
You have to be realistic at this point-we don't have the pitchers this year to go deep in the ACC and if you get cute saving pitchers, we will lose early.

I agree with this sentiment but I also agree with not changing your normal days of rest for your pitching rotation. That's also a recipe for failure.

I honestly think I start Peter Michael v Pitt.

Either him or Eberle. For me it would depend on whether Pitt hits lefties or righties better. If it is more or less the same, then I’d agree with you on starting Michael.

I also get playing for today and not playing for tomorrow. Yet, Peter should he rested and has been very good all year.

Cal now leads 12-2 in the top of the 8th and 2 outs. 10-run rule is in effect, so the Hurricanes will need to score at least one in the bottom of the 8th to stay alive.

12-2 final. A little controversy in the bottom of the 8th when the Cal short stop appeared to be off of second base while attempting to turn a double play. He also overthrew first base on the play. The umps called the runner out at second and ultimately refused to overturn their call.

Had they overturned the call, Miami would have had first and second with just one out, and a very good opportunity to score at least one run to extend the game.

Pitt a winnable game, and even if we don't win a game we should be in the NCAA Tourney. Saw a mock bracket Baseball America, has us as # 2 seed in the Auburn regional. I really believe that if we could win this ACC Tourney, we could still host, but that is a long shot. Let's just beat Pitt today and play one game at a time. Duke next up on deck! Go Cards!

Miami losing to CAL today may have cost them a bid in the NCAA! That loss has put them squarely on the bubble. Let's make sure we don't have the same thing happen to the Cards!!

Getting in the tourney, IMO, is a given. At what seed is the real question. Winning the ACCT, I do not think, gets us to a top 16 seed and a regional host. It could greatly improve what regional they get sent to though.

Maybe not, just depends on what happens with the Regional Top seeds 11 thru 16.

If, at this stage of the season, UofL is still considered a 2 seed then the top seeds likely are moving down (at least not enough to get us where we’d like to be). Don’t get me wrong - I would be blown away excited at getting a regional here and would be there going crazy.

A little controversy
Speaking of it,I was wondering if anybody was watching any of that Alabama game. Was it me or was that home plate umpire pulling some Angel Hernandez type isht for the Tide with some of those strike calls?😅

Alabama is fighting to host a regional. No,they'd never do that🙄

Weird scoring decision there … Stanford center fielder loses a two out medium depth pop fly in the sun, costing the Cardinal 2 runs. They called it a hit…. 12 seeded Virginia Tech now leads 6-2 in the 7th.

13 seed Kentucky Wildcats (29-23) down 4-1 to 12 seed Oklahoma in the 7th. Cats are 29-23, with a 13-17 conference record, and are projected by D1 baseball as a bubblicious 3-seed.

Losing in the first round of the SECT won’t help their cause. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of kittens….

Let's GO!!

Not as much pressure as last year. House money to get this offense hot again.

Can’t make this stuff up; Little League is the only thing that I can compare it to.

It is a joke. Thing is…if Williams was our DB coach and our DBs had been getting torched for 4 straight seasons…you know what?
We’d have a new DBs coach.

The catcher is terrible. Pitchers have to have confidence in their catcher.

Umpire flat misses a third strike. Catcher proceeds to miss another ball then a hit for the 5th run.

Why they continue to run this catcher out there is beyond me

The battery has basically chucked this one away. Pitching for 3 runs and Mowrey 2.

I’d rather see Rose catch.
