Maybe I missed something but why are ACC teams playing each other so early in the year. I went through the schedules on ESPN and noticed the first game for Louisville is against Miami, VT plays Clemson and GT plays NC State. That seems strange to me.

They are playing two extra games. They moved to a 20 game conference schedule
Big 10 is similar. We play Florida State on 12/3.....Then @ Wisconsin on 12/7..Play UConn in NYC on 12/10(coaches vs cancer), then Nebraska....then Notre Dame....Arkansas at home(last OOC game). Start conference only 1/4 @ Maryland.
It helps somewhat fix the imbalance schedule thing.....but not completely of course. In a 15 team league tho, i guess they really couldn't play a 28 game conference schedule lol. But 20 is better than 18 I suppose lol
This I guess I could see. Just not sure why expanding your conference schedule would make you start the season against in conference teams. I don’t guess it matters, just caught me off guard since basketball typically back loads all conference games after Christmas.
That's exactly why. Put some conference games earlier in the year so there are good games to attract more eyes. Instead of playing division two and mid majors for the first 6 weeks of the season.
